A shark attack that killed a 26-year-old surfer, identified as Mr. Ben Kelly, surfing with two friends near Manresa State Beach in Santa Cruz County, California, was highly unusual due to occurring out of usual statistical range for such an event, between about July and November.

The cause of death, according to a statement from the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, was a “shark bite to right knee with disruption of popliteal artery and vein:

The USS Nevada was the only ship to be present at both D-Day and the attack on Pearl Harbor. Built in Massachusetts, she was commissioned in 1916 and served in both World War I and II. The ship was found more than 4km below the surface of the Pacific Ocean, near Pearl Harbor. She has not been seen for 70 years after she was sunk with no one on board during a military exercise.(BBC)
