FORT MYERS, Florida – A Fort Myers-area narcotics enforcement task force announced 41 arrests, the seizure of nearly $650,000 worth of illegal drugs and more than $350,000 cash from illicit drug sales at a Thursday news conference:
“The success of this operation highlights the importance of law enforcement partnerships across the spectrum,” said HSI Tampa Acting Deputy Special Agent in Charge Micah McCombs. “We are proud to be part of the team making our communities safer.”
The investigation initially began in the City of Fort Myers and focused on identifying and eradicating major narcotics suppliers within the city. During the investigation, law enforcement identified multiple individuals allegedly responsible for the distribution of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and methamphetamine within the city, and throughout Lee County.
As the investigation progressed, the Fort Myers Police Department identified targets that were also distributing narcotics in Collier County. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office then began a parallel investigation to identify and dismantle the drug trafficking operation that was operating within Collier County. During its investigation, the sheriff’s office identified numerous individuals allegedly responsible for the large-scale distribution of many narcotics, including cocaine, heroin, and marijuana.

Jerusalem’s Hadassah hospital has been recruiting recovered Covid-19 patients to volunteer inside its coronavirus wards to help patients there.
Under the pilot scheme, they visit patients in moderate or serious condition, who would otherwise be in isolation. The volunteers help the patients eat or just lend a listening ear.
The hospital believes the project to be the first of its kind in the world. And it is likely to be closely watched, given the still unclear science on how much antibody immunity recovered Covid-19 patients have.

Texan boat enthusiasts who took to Lake Travis this weekend to support President Trump’s 2020 campaign, had an unpleasant surprise waiting for them at the water, as several vessels sank after getting caught up in choppy waters.
Travis Country Sheriff’s Office, whose deputies patrol the lake, said they responded to “multiple calls” from vessels in distress and that “several boats did sink.”
“We had an exceptional number of boats on the lake today,” sheriff office spokeswoman Kristen Dark told the Associated Press. “When they all started moving at once it generated wakes.”
No evidence of sabotage:
“Some were taking on water, some were stalled, some were capsizing,” she said, adding that there was no evidence of any intentional sabotage.”

Two weeks ago, I had the honor of visiting the unit where Detective Skernivitz was assigned. I was briefed on the critical work that he and his colleagues do to keep our streets safe from violent crime. Detective Skernivitz selflessly gave his life in this cause.
