Turab Lookman, 68, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, was sentenced on Sept. 11 to five years of probation and a $75,000 fine for providing a false statement to the Department of Energy. Lookman is not allowed to leave New Mexico for the term of his probation.
On June 6, 2018, Lookman, then an employee at Los Alamos National Laboratory, falsely denied to a counterintelligence officer that he had been recruited or applied for a job with the Thousand Talents Program, established by the Chinese government to recruit individuals with access to or knowledge of foreign technology and intellectual property, and pleaded guilty to the charge in January.

Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics Will Roper said the NGAD(Next Generation Air Dominance ) program, which aims to deliver a new advanced fighter jet every five years, was advancing at a pace never before seen:
“NGAD right now is designing, assembling, testing in the digital world – exploring things that would have cost time and money to wait for physical world results,” Roper said, according to Military.com.
“NGAD has come so far that the full-scale flight demonstrator has already flown in the physical world.”
He later confirmed to Defense News:
“We’ve already built and flown a full-scale flight demonstrator in the real world, and we broke records in doing it. We are ready to go and build the next-generation aircraft in a way that has never happened before.”

President Trump has approved a disaster declaration for Oregon, as the state has been hit by wildfires and straight-line winds, following Oregon authorities request to announce a major disaster in the state, as at least ten people have died in the fires and tens of thousands have been forced to evacuate.
“The President’s action makes Federal funding available to affected individuals in the counties of Clackamas, Douglas, Jackson, Klamath, Lane, Lincoln, Linn, and Marion”, the statement on Tuesday said.
National Guard Adj. Gen. Mike Stencel said earlier that almost 700 soldiers and airmen have been mobilised to fight the ongoing fires, and that the number will exceed 1,000 Guard members by the end of the week. As of Monday, 34 wildfires have burned through more than 935,000 acres in Oregon.
Wildfires have been raging in 12 states across the US West Coast, including California and Washington.
