The Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn has praised the efforts of BioNTech in developing a coronavirus vaccine, as the country has secured more than 300 million vaccination doses from different manufacturers, and stating coronavirus vaccine could be approved by mid-December, all this during an interview with Bayerischer Rundfunk public radio:
“It makes me proud that BioNTech is a German development. It is at the forefront and, above all, is safe and effective,” Mr. Spahn said.
“You want to be on the safe side and not just rely on one vaccine candidate,” he said.
Thousands of enraged protesters have rallied in Paris and many other French cities against a security bill that would criminalize publishing photos of police officers, just days after a group of policemen was captured on video while brutally beating and abusing Black music producer Michel Zecler in Paris. Critics of the bill claim the proposed legislation could block the publishing of such videos in the future.
Black-clad protesters have clashed with security forces at the end of a demonstration against police violence in Paris, as the interior ministry said there were 46,000 protesters on the streets, with 37 police officers and gendarmes injured, as the protests followed publication of CCTV footage showing police beating an unarmed black man, an incident that has also ignited anger about a draft law that is seen as curbing journalists’ right to report on police brutality, following the police making nine arrests.
France’s Interior Minister, Gerald Darmanin, condemned the “unacceptable” violence against police, saying dozens of members of the security forces had been wounded:
“Thirty-seven police officers and gendarmes were injured during the demonstrations, according to provisional figures.”
“I once again condemn the unacceptable violence against the security forces.”
