RTHK News said one of its reporters saw a uniformed officer fire a shot into the sky, as violence escalated when tens of thousands of anti-government protesters marched in torrential rain, regrouping under a sea of umbrellas after clashes a day earlier that prompted police to fire tear gas for the first time in more than a week.

While a large crowd rallied in a nearby park, another group of protesters took over a main street, strewing bamboo poles on the pavement and lining up orange and white traffic barriers and cones to try to obstruct the police.

Protesters responded by throwing bricks and Molotov cocktails toward the police, resulting in small fires, and tossing paving bricks on the street between the two, rising clouds of tear gas and green and blue laser lights pointed by the protesters at the police.(ABC.AU)

Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina is planning a tactical stand-down over three days in August and September to help the personnel to “recharge” following the suicides of three airmen in the past year, with the total number of Air Force suicides already reaching 79 this year.

The 79 deaths, which occurred in the Air Force from January to July 2019, were nearly twice as many compared to this time last year, and officials fear 2019 could be the deadliest in history, as the military branch has recorded about 100 suicides per year over the past 5 years.

Derek O’Malley of Shaw Air Force Base posted a video on Facebook Wednesday detailing their plans to allow Air Force personnel time to recharge their batteries during a Resilience Tactical Pause (RTP) at the base.

Christopher Rhoton, 35, Justin Strickland, 26, and Jose Llanes, 28, all committed suicide at the base this year, according to Sumter County Coroner Robert Baker.

A Nigerian man identified as Ayodeji Temitayo Fatunmbi, 47, was sentenced to 46 months in prison today for his role in a durable medical equipment (DME) scheme in which more than $8 million was fraudulently billed to Medicare for DME that was not medically necessary.

Fatunmbi pleaded guilty on May 8, 2019 to one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering, and was charged along with Olufunke Ibiyemi Fadojutimi, 47, of Carson, California, and Maritza Elizabeth Velasquez, 44, of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Fatunmbi admitted that he and others paid cash kickbacks to patient recruiters and physicians for fraudulent prescriptions for DME such as power wheelchairs, which the Medicare beneficiaries did not have a legitimate medical need.
