On Oct/ 8, 2019, Angel Armando Adrianzen, 45, of California was indicted by a Miami, Florida grand jury on fraud and extortion charges for engaging with call centers in Peru that took money from US Spanish-speaking victims through lies and threats, and was charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud and wire fraud, five counts of wire fraud, five counts of mail fraud, and four counts of extortion.
The callers also falsely threatened victims with court proceedings, negative marks on their credit reports, imprisonment, or immigration consequences if they did not immediately pay for the purportedly delivered products and settlement fees, with many victims made monetary payments based on these baseless threats to consumers.
Many were elderly and vulnerable, using Internet-based telephone calls, and according to the indictment, these callers claimed to be attorneys and government representatives, and falsely told victims that they had failed to pay for or receive delivery of products.
Adrianzen received the victims’ payments and shipped products to the victims for these call centers, knowing that they used fraudulent and extortionate means to extract money from vulnerable victims.

The former US ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch told lawmakers she was fired over “unfounded and false claims by people with clearly questionable motives”, and she was “incredulous” at being dismissed by President Trump in May, with her testimony being part of an impeachment inquiry against the president.
Mr. Trump described Ms. Yovanovitch as “bad news”, according to a rough transcript released by the White House, as the decision to dismiss her several months earlier reportedly followed the US president’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, and other conservatives arguing she was biased against the president.
“Although I understand that I served at the pleasure of the president, I was nevertheless incredulous that the US government chose to remove an ambassador based, as best as I can tell, on unfounded and false claims by people with clearly questionable motives,” Ms Yovanovitch said in a prepared statement.
The Democratic probe is looking into whether Mr. Trump improperly pressured Ukraine to investigate his political rival Joe Biden.

President Trump will be signing an executive order giving US officials new powers to target Turkey and its government officials with “very significant sanctions,” Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced, after clarifying that the “very significant” powers to sanction Turkey had been authorized, but not activated.
“I just met with president Trump, and he has authorized and will be signing a new executive order giving the treasury department, in consultation with himself and Secretary [of State Mike] Pompeo, very significant new sanctions authorities that can be targeted at any person associated with the government of Turkey, any portion of the government,” Mnuchin said.
Mnuchin warned that the US would be able to “shut down” Turkey’s economy if necessary amid Ankara’s ongoing campaign against US-allied Syrian Kurdish forces in northern Syria.
“The president is concerned about the ongoing military offensive and potential targeting of civilians, civilian infrastructure, ethnic or religious minorities.”
