Amaya-Alvarez – a Salvadoran national in the United States illegally – who admitted he belonged to MS-13, a notorious and violent transnational street gang, was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for his role in a brutal machete attack at a park just outside Dallas, Texas.

After Amaya-Alvarez and another gang member, both seated on a park bench, greeted the victims, the other gang members appeared and surrounded the victims, forcing them to kneel on the ground before robbing them and attacking them with machetes and clubs.

A federal grand jury indicted Roger Nils-Jonas Karlsson, 45, and his company, Eastern Metal Securities (EMS), charging the defendants with engaging in a scheme to defraud victims of more than $11 million, and according to a complaint filed March 4, 2019, in connection with the case, since September 2006, Karlsson, also known by several aliases, including Steve Heyden, Euclid Deodoris, Joshua Millard, Lars Georgsson, Paramon Larasoft and Kenth Westerberg, used websites to communicate false representations to victims in a scheme to defraud potential investors.

Karlsson allegedly brought the investors in HCI25 together with the investors in the PFRPP and posted multiple communications to delay the moment investors would realize there would be no payout.

The complaint alleges that the funds provided by victims were transferred to Karlsson’s personal bank accounts and now appear to be tied up in real estate in Thailand.

Two prison guards have been charged with conspiracy and falsifying records in connection with Epstein’s “suicide”, who died at the Metropolitan Correctional Center where he was held ahead of his pending trial on charges of sex trafficking of minors.

Two guarded who were assigned to monitor the unit of convicted sex offender at the time of his death had been taken into custody and would be charged, for failing to check on Epstein every 30 minutes but instead slept for hours and falsified records.

Between eight and 10 people have been killed in a shooting at a Texas high school, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez who told reporters the majority of the dead at Santa Fe High School were students.

A student is in custody after the attack at the school, which is about 40 miles (65km) south of Houston, with the death toll making this the deadliest school shooting since the one in February at Parkland, Florida.

The local education authority said “possible explosive devices” had been found at the school, as well as off-campus.

“Law enforcement is in the process of rendering them safe. The school has been evacuated,” tweeted Santa Fe Independent School District.

President Trump is pressuring Germany to pull out of the controversial Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline project, by telling Chancellor Angela Merkel last month that Berlin should drop support for the pipeline linking Russia and Germany if it wants to avoid a trans-Atlantic trade war.


In return, Trump reportedly said the U.S. would start talks for a new trade deal with the European Union, after imposing tariffs of 25 percent on steel and 10 percent on aluminum imports but gave EU countries until June 1 to negotiate new deals with the U.S.

A New Mexico man named John Kelsey was sentenced in St. Paul, Minnesota, for directing computer attacks against the websites of his prior employers, business competitors and public services, and felon-in-possession of a firearm charge to serve 180 months in prison. Restitution to the victims of his computer attacks will be determined at a later date. Gammell pleaded guilty on Jan. 17, to one count of conspiracy to cause intentional damage to a protected computer and two counts of being a felon-in-possession of a firearm.

According to admissions made in connection with his plea, from at least in or about July 2015 through in or about March 2017, Gammell engaged in a campaign of distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks on websites throughout the United States. A DDoS attack is a malicious attempt to disable or interrupt service to a computer or website, usually by causing large amounts of Internet traffic to be directed to the computer or website. Gammell directed DDoS attacks at a number of victims’ websites, including websites operated by companies he used to work for, companies that declined to hire him, competitors of his business, and websites for law enforcement agencies and courts, among others.

Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez said that a gunman who traded shots with police at Trump National Doral Golf Club near Miami appeared to have been trying to lure officers into an ambush by firing shots at chandeliers on the hotel lobby ceiling. The 42-year-old local man turned gunman was also reported to have pointed the gun at people in the hotel building.


“We don’t know what his intentions were – his long-term intentions – but we know what he was trying to do,” Perez said, adding that, while the suspect “did succeed” in drawing police in, “he did lose.”

The suspect “began to yell out anti-Trump, President Trump, rhetoric,” Perez said. “The exact words I don’t know, but that’s what we know so far.”

“These officers did not hesitate one second to engage this individual that was actively shooting in the lobby of the hotel,” the police director added. “They risked their lives knowing that they had to get in there to save lives in that hotel.”

Judge Roger W. Titus ruled the judges in California and New York who blocked the phaseout tried to substitute their own judgments for that of the Homeland Security Department, crossing constitutional lines in order to strike at Mr Trump’s policies, and went even further, praising the administration for the way it handled the situation with a six-month decision delay.

Ruling that the DACA program is legal, is doing little to solve the ongoing court quagmire and does not overturn two other federal courts, but it does offer a needed boost as the Justice Department appeals those other two rulings.

“This decision took control of a pell-mell situation and provided Congress — the branch of government charged with determining immigration policy — an opportunity to remedy it. Given the reasonable belief that DACA was unlawful, the decision to wind down DACA in an orderly manner was rational,” the judge wrote.

Federal immigration agents arrested 23 people across New Mexico and west Texas on suspicion of being in the country illegally, as they served notices of employment audits to 131 businesses across the state and a swath of 18 counties in Texas over the past week when the arrests were made. Businesses are being given three days to provide hiring records that deal with employees’ immigration status. 


Agency regional spokeswoman Nina Pruneda says three of the individuals face criminal charges related to illegal re-entry to the United States or firearm possession or both.

The pair were found slumped unconscious on a bench at the Maltings shopping centre on Sunday with no visible injuries, and officers are investigating whether a crime had been committed.

Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Craig Holden said: “They are currently being treated for suspected exposure to an unknown substance…

“The focus is trying to establish what has caused these people to become critically ill.

“We are working with partners to prioritise this diagnosis and ensure that they receive the most appropriate and timely treatment.”
