“I pledge my allegiance to the Constitution,” Xi began.
“[To] safeguard the Constitution’s authority, fulfill my legal obligations, be loyal to the country and the people, be committed and honest in my duty, accept the people’s supervision and work hard for a great modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious and beautiful.”
He bowed, and the nearly 3,000 National People’s Congress (NPC) deputies reacted with a spontaneous burst of thunderous applause.

A video of a supposed unidentified flying object (UFO) captured in the US in 2016, shows a strange spacecraft following a passenger plane, approaching and then overtaking the aircraft.
YouTube users remained at odds over the video, which some said should not be rejected because it was “clearly not photoshop,” while others suggested that it could be part of war games, air refuelling and computer-generated imagery (CGI).

Update on explosion investigation with Chief Manley

Chief Manley gave an early morning press briefing to warn of the possibility of a different style of attack.
He said: “It is very possible this device was activated by someone either handling, kicking or coming into contact with a tripwire. That changes things in that our safety message has been about the handling of packages. We need the community to have an extra level of vigilance and pay attention to any suspicious device. Do not approach it. Call 911. We do believe that this was a bomb that exploded, but it was not similar to previous explosions. We are working on the belief they are connected but we have not processed the scene.”
Chief Manley also said he believed the attacks were “meant to send a message” after the bombs killed two people and injured two others since early March, and officials announced a new $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the terrorists, not ruling out racism as a possible motive.

In 1942 German authorities had deported 14-year-old Polish girl Czesława Kwoka and her mother from the Zamość region in southeastern Poland to Auschwitz to create “living space” for Germans in eastern Europe.
Kwoka was beaten by the guards shortly before her registration card was issued, with her busted lip clearly visible on the document, recorded for posterity.
Her mother died three months after they arrived at the camp, and Czesława was murdered with a phenol injection to the heart a few weeks later, one of the millions, mostly Jewish people the Nazis killed at Auschwitz during the Second World War.
Brazilian artist Marina Amaral colourized the original black-and-white images that another Auschwitz prisoner, Wilhelm Brasse, had taken shortly after Kwoka arrived at the camp.
The touching post has been shared more than 10,000 times and received over 250,000 media engagements.
“Thank you all for helping us to remember the past,” the museum said in a tweet responding to the social media reaction. “We need to learn about this tragic history of Auschwitz to create a better and safer future.”

Czesława Kwoka was born on 15 August 1928 in Wólka Złojecka, a village in Zamość region. She arrived at #Auschwitz on 13 December 1942 in a transport of 318 women. Her mother Katarzyna was also deported. She received number 26949 & perished in the camp on 18 February 1943. 3/4
