Corona-virus has hit the general population of US very hard, and the homeless even harder, as Washington has convicted street people, many of them veterans, to die in communal shelters’, without the comfort of a home to self-quarantine in, and deprived of regular access to sanitation, making it more likely to contract the deadly infection. As cases keep overwhelming  New York City shelters, D.C. social services workers are warning about the city’s homeless, since they need hands regularly, stay at home if possible, stay away from large crowds and keep a safe distance. But what if your home is a dirty tent without running water? Or if you can only get a warm meal, and a roof over your head in a shelter where the beds are packed together in cramped quarters?
The US organization National Alliance to End Homelessness warned that facilities with poor access to sanitation,street’s peoples age, poor health, disability, and living conditions make them highly vulnerable to illness.

Two successive avalanches in Turkey killed at least 38 people, most of them buried by the second down-slide while working to rescue victims of the first, and the Disaster and Emergency Authority (AFAD) said 33 people died when the second avalanche hit while they were searching for two more victims of the first snow-slip, which killed five people, after rescuing eight others, with the perished rescuers included military police officers, government-paid village guards, firefighters and volunteers. In addition, 53 people were injured.

More people are believed to be trapped, as rescue teams were working to rescue people trapped under an earlier avalanche that struck on Tuesday, killing five people.

The Syrian military began an offensive in Idlib in December, and now the media has released a footage of the eerie underground terrorist hideouts in the recently liberated areas of Idlib province, including a fortified jihadist headquarters in Babila, a small village in the Maarat al-Numan district, and the underground headquarters of al-Nusra Front* in the outskirts of the town of Maardabsa. The video shows a reporter walking through an handcrafted network of  hollowed out and fortified caverns, with the facilities featuring modern-day conveniences and littered with the remains of weapons, equipment, supplies, and even a mural possibly created by the militants.

Footage of the al-Nusra Front aka “Obama’s boys” hideout shows that the base was literally carved into the nearby mountainside, with its facilities including sleeping quarters, weaponry and unmarked chemical containers, with some of the equipment appearing to have been damaged or destroyed long before the Syrian Army’s advance.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) New Orleans Special Agents arrested a Harahan, Louisiana, man Thursday on a federal felony charge of receiving child pornography. The arrest stems from his indictment January 16 pursuant to an investigation by HSI with assistance from the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation.

Charles Lopez, 27, was arrested at his residence following a months-long criminal investigation after HSI and LBI executed a federal search warrant April 30, 2019, at Lopez’s home, where evidence was obtained indicating Lopez received images and videos depicting sexual exploitation of minors.

If convicted, Lopez faces a mandatory minimum penalty of five years imprisonment up to 20 years, followed by up to a life term of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine. This indictment is a criminal charge and guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

This investigation was conducted under HSI’s Operation Predator, an international initiative to protect children from sexual predators. Since the launch of Operation Predator in 2003, HSI has arrested more than 19,000 individuals for crimes against children, including the production and distribution of online child exploitation material, traveling overseas for sex with minors, and sex trafficking of children. In fiscal year 2018, more than 3,000 (3,191) child predators were arrested by HSI special agents under this initiative and more than 850 (859) victims identified or rescued.

As witnesses described hearing a “sputtering” engine before the sound of the crash, and an air traffic controller told the pilot of a helicopter carrying US basketball star Kobe Bryant he was flying “too low” to be picked up by radar before the chopper crashed, killing everyone on board, crew unaware that the Los Angeles Police Department grounded its helicopters due to the foggy weather.
A 40-second audio clip of the communications between the helicopter and air traffic control was released publicly as 20 investigators worked on a rugged hillside outside Los Angeles to collect evidence from the scene, where nine people were killed in a wreck that left debris scattered over an area the size of a football field.

The pilot spoke with control towers at Burbank and Van Nuys for a short period, before switching over to the Socal Approach network.

Social Approach advised the helicopter pilot that he did not have enough altitude to be picked up by the Flight Following system, but he did not respond and radar contact was lost.

“Helicopter 72EX, you’re still too low level for Flight Following at this time,” the air traffic controller said.

The Flight Following system lets pilots inform air traffic controllers of their location and intentions so their aircraft can be monitored on radar and steered away from other aircraft.

Charles Cooper, Bolton’s personal attorney, issued a statement on Sunday declaring that it was “clear” that the leak originated from the National Security Council’s Records Management Division.
