2…………> One Of ICE Most Wanted: In Cuffs

NEWARK, N.J. – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) arrested one of its 10 “Most Wanted” in Cliffside Park, New Jersey,  a man identified as Anibal Garcia-Jerez,  a previously removed, aggravated felon from Guatemala, convicted of child endangerment involving the production of child pornography, with outstanding warrants for a parole violation and failure to register as a sex offender.

He had previously been removed by ICE officers in 2018, after he was turned over to ICE following the completion of his sentencing. He later illegally reentered the United States, making him an ICE fugitive, and was considered an ICE enforcement priority due to his aggravated felony history. In January 2017, the Bergen County Superior Court, New Jersey convicted Garcia-Jerez for the offense of felony endangering the welfare of a child (photograph or film a child in a prohibited sex act) and sentenced him to three years confinement.

3…………>  Biden Slams Russia’s Hackers

The US has announced sanctions against Russia in response to what it says are cyber-attacks and other hostile acts, with the measures, which target dozens of Russian entities and officials, aim to deter “Russia’s harmful foreign activities”, the White House statement saying Russian intelligence was behind last year’s massive “SolarWinds” hack, and accuses Moscow of interference in the 2020 election.

Russia denies all the allegations and says it will respond in kind, as the sanctions announced  are detailed in an executive order signed by President Joe Biden. They come at a tense time for relations between the two countries.

4…………>  A Bad Slave Trade: Texas Students

A group of school students in Texas have been disciplined for setting up a “Slave Trade” messaging group that assigned prices to their black peers, as messages shared on the Snapchat app at a school in Aledo appraised one student worth a dollar, and another “100 bucks”, followed by the school district conducting an inquiry and finding that “racial harassment and cyber bullying” had occurred.

But some parents accused authorities of failing to respond appropriately, despite students at the Daniel Ninth Grade Campus in Aledo had posted messages on a group Snapchat that was reportedly labelled with terms such as “farm” and “auction”.

German Health Minister Jens Spahn pleaded with federal states to impose further restrictions immediately rather than wait for the federal “emergency brake,” as the government was about to introduce stricter nationwide restrictions to contain a third wave of the coronavirus pandemic amid calls from doctors to toughen the measures:

“Every day counts especially in this difficult situation,” Spahn told a weekly news conference, adding that “vaccinating and testing alone are not enough to break the third wave.”

“We know from last autumn what happens when we don’t act quickly,” he added.
