WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – A runaway girl, 14 and boy, 12, engaged in an armed standoff with police in Florida, resulting in the girl being shot and injured by police, the Volusia County Sheriff’s office said in a statement on Wednesday.

The teenage girl was shot and wounded by police after she exited the house while pointing a shotgun at police officers, the release said. The boy then put down the AK-47 he had armed himself with and surrendered.

“A 12-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl who ran away from a children’s group home Tuesday night in Enterprise broke into a house, armed themselves with several of the homeowner’s guns and opened fire on several responding deputies who tried to talk them into surrendering,” the release said.

It helps to think about the Universe like a balloon being blown up. From our perspective, what this means is the further away a galaxy is from us, the faster it is receding.

WASHINGTON – A New York man and Alabama woman, identified as James Bradley, 20, of the Bronx, New York, and Arwa Muthana, 29, of Hoover, Alabama,  were arrested at a seaport in Newark, New Jersey on criminal charges related to their alleged attempt to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization, the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS).

“As alleged, the defendants planned to travel overseas to join and support ISIS,” said Assistant Attorney General John C. Demers for the Justice Department’s National Security Division. 

“The threat of terrorism at home and abroad remains, and the National Security Division is committed to holding accountable those who would provide material support to foreign terrorist organizations.  I want to thank the agents, analysts, and prosecutors who are responsible for this case.”

Security forces in the country have used increasingly deadly force against opposition protesters. They have killed at least 550 people, including children, since the demonstrations began.
