A “violent tornado” touched down in Jefferson City, Missouri, causing heavy damage, according to the National Weather Service, but there were no immediate reports of fatalities, but police said there there were no reports of fatalities in the city, and the weather service said it had received 22 reports of tornadoes by late Wednesday, although some of those could be duplicates

One hospital said it had four patients with minor injuries

The service reported that a “confirmed large and destructive tornado” was observed over Jefferson City at 11:43pm Wednesday (local time), moving north-east at 48 miles per hour.

Along with the bases, the US also has access to a large series of smaller ‘cooperative security locations’, also known as ‘lily pads‘ with 200 troops or less, as well as access to airfields and ports in countries including Oman, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt.

The guided-missile destroyer USS William P. Lawrence (DDG 110) sails with ships from the Royal Australian Navy, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, the French navy aircraft carrier FS Charles de Gaulle (R 91) and its escort ships through the Gulf of Bengal during exercises La Perouse. The exercise, comprised of multiple anti-submarine warfare drills, was designed to enhance unit-level training, improve the strike group’s ability to respond to a submarine threat, and enhance interoperability between the U.S. and French navies.
