“We’re encouraged by the early promising data that we’ve seen about convalescent plasma. The data from studies conducted this year shows that plasma from patients who’ve recovered from COVID-19 has the potential to help treat those who are suffering from the effects of getting this terrible virus,” said FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn regarding the emergency use authorization (EUA) for investigational convalescent plasma to treat COVID-19 hospitalized patients.
“At the same time, we will continue to work with researchers to continue randomized clinical trials to study the safety and effectiveness of convalescent plasma in treating patients infected with the novel coronavirus,” he added.
“The FDA’s emergency authorization for convalescent plasma is a milestone achievement in President Trump’s efforts to save lives from COVID-19,” said U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar.
Based on scientific data collected, the FDA concluded this product may be effective in treating COVID-19 and that the known and potential benefits of the product outweigh the known and potential risks of the product.

Despite being shot multiple times in the back, Jacob Blake, an African American man who was shot by police at close range in the city of Kenosha, Wisconsin on 29 August, apparently had criminal charges brought against him last month, as online court records show that on 6 July, he was charged by prosecutors with trespassing, 3rd degree sexual assault and disorderly conduct in connection with domestic abuse, an arrest warrant for him was issued the next day, on 7 July.
After having been seriously injured by cops while reportedly trying to break up a fight between two women, Blake managed to survive, and is now in a hospital in critical condition.
Following his shooting a violent protest has erupted after a video of Blake’s shooting spread on social media, with protesters demanding that the cops responsible be brought to justice.

The state of Louisiana issued mandatory evacuation orders to the Orleans, Lafourche, Jefferson and Plaquemines parishes to evacuate after the National Hurricane Center said it expected weather conditions to begin deteriorating along the Gulf of Mexico coast early Monday morning, along four low-lying southeastern areas ahead of the arrival of twin storms this week.
Tropical Storm Marco is forecast to make landfall on Monday, followed by Laura’s arrival in the middle of the week, and the two storms are expected to bring hurricane-force winds and flash floods, as public shelters will be open to residents starting Sunday, and evacuees have been advised to travel on their own due to coronavirus-related restrictions. People will have their temperature taken upon arrival and will be required to wear face masks.
