2…………> Ready For Pilotless Planes & Prepaid Funerals: Boeing Computer Idiocy
Boeing’s 737 MAX 8 operated by Ethiopian Airlines fell off the skies, the newest version of world’s most popular plane to again be in the news after another deadly crash following the preliminary report in the Lion Air tragedy that found the pilots struggled to control the plane as an automatic safety system designed to prevent stalling repeatedly pushed the plane’s nose down
Following the latest crash, US pilots who were trained to fly the same model said Boeing had not told them about the new anti-stall system in training documents, and the company had issued a safety bulletin after the crash that included new details on how to disable the system
Pilots tried to manually raise the nose to correct the flight, only for the sequence to repeat about five seconds later, a procedure that was repeated 26 times, but the pilot failed to realise what was happening
The Boeing crashed after leaving Addis Ababa on Sunday en route to Nairobi, the capital of neighboring Kenya, killing all 157 people on board.

3…………> A Prep For Trouble In South Pacific: Trump & Co.
Political experts say Washington has been able to “dig out” the “new strategic reality” in the Pacific, with the White House recently restructuring the NSC to create a new Pacific role, and the US ushering new infrastructure partnerships designed to offer Pacific countries an alternative to China.
The senior director for Asian affairs on the White House National Security Council (NSC), Matt Pottinger, visited Vanuatu and Solomon Islands last week for meetings with top politicians and officials.
“We are committed to working together with Australia on our shared vision of a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region that benefits all willing to play fair and follow the rules,” Trump administration’s spokesman said as two top US security advisers have paid a rare visit to the Pacific in another sign that the United States is intent on thwarting China’s strategic ambitions in the region
Last week the Deputy Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum, Cristelle Pratt, criticized the Trump Administration’s 2017 National Security Strategy, which says the US will work with Australia and New Zealand to “shore up fragile partner states” in the Pacific and “reduce their vulnerability to economic fluctuations and natural disasters.”
Pacific nations have welcomed the intensifying US engagement in the region, but they have also warned they do not want to be drawn into a broader strategic battle between China and other powers like America, Australia and France.
