Yuanwang-6, China’s third-generation space-tracking ship, was at sea for 29 days, sailing more than 5,000 nautical miles during its country for the two missions, and now  returned to its homeport after completing its telemetry, tracking and command (TT&C) tasks for the Tianzhou-2 cargo spacecraft and Shenzhou-12 manned spaceship missions.

On May 29, China launched Tianzhou-2, and the cargo freighter, carrying supplies, equipment, propellant, provided vital communication between the spacecraft and the ground, leading to successful dock with the space station core module Tianhe on May 30.

On June 17, China successfully launched Shenzhou-12, with three astronauts on board for space station construction.

Germany has recorded 346 new cases, its lowest daily tally since late last summer, as the Olympics plans to allow spectators, but in limited numbers, since country’s caseloads have been steadily dropping for weeks, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) registering 346 new cases released for the previous 24-hour period. Ten new deaths were also recorded.

A week earlier, the RKI had reported 549 infections, but figures tend to be lower on early week days owing to reduced weekend testing.

China’s UFO task force has been “overwhelmed” by reports of mysterious sightings about UFOs, which are known as “unidentified air conditions” in China, and have been on the rise, which prompted the UFO unit to resort to the use of artificial intelligence during investigations of the incidents. The Chinese military believes that sightings of unidentified objects are more likely caused by “humans than aliens”, a local scientist told the South China Morning Post. Dozens of people are facing fines of up to €3,000 ($3,650) for removing beach sand and shells from the Italian island of Sardinia, according to a local media report, as authorities said that 41 individuals had been reported for the theft of about 100kg (220lb) of items from beaches in separate incidents, since its famed white sand is treasured on the island and it is strictly forbidden to remove it. The trade in Sardinian sand, pebbles and shells was made illegal in 2017.

The fines imposed might seem heavy-handed, but for years islanders have complained about the theft of their natural assets, and tourists, mainly Europeans and including some Italians, bottle the sand to keep as souvenirs or auction it online.

Two Iranian warships sailing along the east coast of Africa are due to enter the Atlantic Ocean by Friday, according to unnamed US sources as saying, as US national security officials are reportedly keeping a watchful eye on the movements of two Iranian naval vessels that are believed to be heading for Venezuela.

The ships are said to include an Iranian Navy frigate and the Makran, an oil tanker-turned-staging base, capable of offering a platform for electronic warfare and special operations missions due to its armament capabilities, according to Iranian media. The Makran reportedly left its port in late April with seven high-speed missile-attack craft strapped to its deck.
