3…………> A Tragedy Along Re-Start: A Face Mask Murder
.
As the nation is cautiously moving forward to open the “new normal” economy, where everyone should wear a COVID-19 approved mask, an altercation between a security guard attemting to enforce a state law, and wayward shopper with a gun led to Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton reporting that Calvin Munerlyn was shot at a store just north of downtown Flint, a short time after reportedly discussing with Sharmel Teague’s daughter that she did not have on a mask:
“My office has authorized felony warrants against three individuals in the shooting death of Calvin Munerlyn. She [Sharmel Teague] had gone to the store. She had a daughter with her. The daughter did not have a mask. Sharmel did have a mask. But the altercation ensued, and we believe she communicated with Larry Teague and Ramonyea Bishop, and they returned to the store and the shooting occurred”.
Last month, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer ordered that people had to wear a face covering in enclosed public spaces such as grocery stores.

4…………> AI Search For Covid19: China’s Secret Weapon?
During the first days of the COVID-19 war desperate attempts to identify infections in patients, doctors in the city of Wuhan were able to use artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to scan the lungs of thousands of patients, an algorithm developed by Axial AI, that analyses CT imagery in seconds, and produces a report whether a patient has a high risk of viral pneumonia from corona-virus or not.
A consortium of firms developed the AI in response to the corona-virus outbreak. They say it can show whether a patient’s lungs have improved or worsened over time, when more CT scans are done for comparison, and a hospital in Malaysia is now testing the system and Axial AI has also offered to donate it to the NHS.
Around the world, artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are being rapidly deployed as part of efforts to tackle the corona-virus pandemic. Some question whether these tools are reliable enough, though – after all, people’s lives are at stake.
