I was actually sticking up for Sleepy Joe Biden while on foreign soil. Kim Jong Un called him a “low IQ idiot,” and many other things, whereas I related the quote of Chairman Kim as a much softer “low IQ individual.” Who could possibly be upset with that?

President Trump and First Lady Melania left Japan after a four day visit that involved serious talks regarding the economic relations between the two countries, including the trade imbalance, and regional issues that are important in maintaining peace and prosperity in the region. 

The leaders of Japan and the United States jointly inspected a Japanese destroyer on Tuesday at the Maritime Self-Defense Force (MSDF) base in Yokosuka, south of Tokyo, on the final day of Trump’s four-day state visit to Japan.

At a joint speech to address the 500 Japanese and U.S. personnel inside the hangar of the “JS Kaga” helicopter carrier, the second constructed ship in the Izumo class of the Japan MSDF, the leaders expressed their solidarity and commitment to peace and prosperity in the region.

Rivers from the Thames in England to the Tigris in Iraq host concentrations of antibiotics exceeding safe levels by up to 300 times, a contamination which could play a role in human drug resistance, a data set supporting the UN declared it a national emergency last year, warning that over 10 million people could die as a result of resistance by 2050, outnumbering the amount of deaths due to cancer, and around 24 million people could be forced out of their homes by 2030.

“Antimicrobial compounds from households, hospitals, pharmaceutical facilities and agricultural run-off released into the environment, combined with direct contact between natural bacterial communities and discharged resistant bacteria, is driving bacterial evolution and the emergence of more resistant strains,” a UN report on antibiotic resistance said.

Samples found antibiotics at 65 percent of the surveyed sites, causing scientists and policy makers to recognize the role of the natural environment in the antimicrobial resistance problem, according to Professor Alistair Boxall, Theme Leader of the York Environmental Sustainability Institute.

“We know very little about the scale of problem globally,” he said.

Trimethoprim, an antibiotic used to treat urinary tract infections, was found most frequently at 307 of the 711 sites, while Metronidazole, which is used to treat skin and mouth infections, was found to be the least safe. (DW)

The Chinese economic planning agency warned that products using China’s rare earth minerals should not be used against China’s development, a veiled threat aimed at the US and its technology industry.

“Rare earths are critical elements used across many of the major weapons systems the US relies on for national security, including lasers, radar, sonar, night vision systems, missile guidance, jet engines, and even alloys for armored vehicles,” a report said.

“You suggested that rare earths could become one of China’s countermeasures against the US’s unwarranted suppression…What can I tell you is that if anyone were to use products that are made with the rare earths that we export to curb the development of China, then the people of [south Jiangxi province where rare earths are mined], as well as all the rest of the Chinese people, would be unhappy,” a Chinese official said in an interview.
