Agents and officers assigned to the Seattle ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Border Enforcement Security Taskforce (BEST) seized several properties used by members of an international drug trafficking organization, with defendants Qifeng Li was sentenced to 32 months in prison and four years of supervised release, his wife Xiamin Huang was sentenced to two years in prison and two years of supervised release, and brother Qiwei Li, was sentenced to 30 months in prison.
“When the public hears about a grow house in a state where possessing marijuana is not necessarily an illegal activity, their first instinct may be that this is a victimless crime,” said Eben Roberts, acting special agent in charge of HSI Seattle.

The Department of Justice announced that a British man living in Las Vegas, Nevada, identified as Gareth David Long, 40, pleaded guilty today to a scheme to abuse the personal and financial information of hundreds of thousands of victims in order to steal millions of dollars.
Long used the proceeds of his fraud scheme to purchase a 5,400 square foot ranch and 23 acres of land in Texas, three airplanes, cars, a fire truck, and construction and farm equipment, as well as to pay other personal expenses.
In January 2013, Long stopped acting as a third-party payment processor for other merchants, and simply started using RCCs to charge the bank accounts of consumers whose personal identifying information he had acquired over the previous five years, as well as other consumers whose information Long purchased in the form of “lead lists”.
As part of his plea agreement, Long admitted that he created and deposited checks drawn on the checking accounts of more than 375,000 victims without authorization during a six-month period in 2013
“The defendant took millions of dollars from numerous victims by misusing their personal and financial data,” said Assistant Attorney General Jody Hunt of the Department of Justice’s Civil Division.
