1………> Police Brutality: Georgia

Gregory McLeod, 44, of East Point, Georgia, and a former correctional officer and supervisor at the U.S. Penitentiary in Atlanta (USP Atlanta), was sentenced today in federal court to one year and eight months in prison, followed by three years supervised release, for using excessive force against an inmate in 2016, and for writing two false reports about the incident in an effort to cover up his crime.

“Correctional officers have an important duty to protect inmates from violence or any act of unreasonable force,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General John Gore of the Civil Rights Division. “McLeod’s violent actions, and attempt to obstruct justice, blatantly violated the inmate’s civil rights. This Justice Department will not tolerate any abuse of power by a law enforcement officer and will continue to prosecute these cases to the fullest extent of the law.”

4……….> Don’t Dwell On Us: China

Vice-Premier Liu He told US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin that the United States has violated international trade rules with an inquiry into intellectual property and China is ready to defend its interests, as hog producers in Iowa to apple growers in Washington state and winemakers in California joined ethanol and stainless steel pipe makers to protest a charge of 15% on their goods, all caught in the nightmarish trade war launched on the world’s “globalist” economy.

President Donald “Schumer” Trump plans to impose tariffs on up to $US60 billion ($77 billion) in Chinese goods for misappropriation of US intellectual property under Section 301 of the 1974 US Trade Act.

“We believe it is only part of China’s countermeasures, and soybeans and other US farm products will be targeted. It does not look like just a trade war, but rather the US is trying to bully China and the rest of the world in order to make China concede economic resources and development opportunities to the US and make the US forever big and strong,” according to popular China tabloid.

5…………> Charlie Go Home: Palau

Members of the U.S. armed forces have retrieved the remains of a pilot and his plane who was shot down 70 years ago flying a mission over the Pacific, despite the winds of time, sand and sea life at the bottom of the ocean covering the wreckage, which were found near Ngerekebesang Island, in the Republic of Palau.
