Northern Philippine island of Luzon was hit by twin earthquakes, measuring magnitudes 5.4 and 6.4 in Itbayat, Batanes, followed by a third quake, measuring 5.7, that shook the area later on Saturday.

The earthquakes struck a group of sparsely populated islands in the Luzon Strait in the northern Philippines early on Saturday, killing at least eight people, some while sleeping in their beds, injuring about 60 and causing substantial damage to property.

The Philippines is one of the most disaster-prone countries on earth, and casualties continue to rise as people are found in the rubble.

    A second IED containing nails and metal ball bearings was found on the 2nd floor of the mall and disarmed safely.

    A 50-year-old man in the western Islamic Merkeldom of Germany city of Bottrop targeted several people with his car on New Year’s Eve, by repeatedly targetting crowds in different areas, starting with the city of Bottrop, then in Essen, both part of the North Rhine-Westphalia federal state.

     Following the attack, at least four people, some Syrian and Afghan nationals, sustained serious injuries.
