A fourth wave of the coronavirus infection has started in the United States as new strains are becoming more prominent, according to epidemiologist Dr. Michael Osterholm, who served as a member of US President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 transition advisory board:

“We seem to be in a cycle of regional activity and right now the upper Midwest is lighting up with the northeast, and it won’t be long before the rest of the country will be following behind,” Dr.  Osterholm  said this Sunday.

It helps to think about the Universe like a balloon being blown up. From our perspective, what this means is the further away a galaxy is from us, the faster it is receding.

WASHINGTON – A New York man and Alabama woman, identified as James Bradley, 20, of the Bronx, New York, and Arwa Muthana, 29, of Hoover, Alabama,  were arrested at a seaport in Newark, New Jersey on criminal charges related to their alleged attempt to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization, the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS).

“As alleged, the defendants planned to travel overseas to join and support ISIS,” said Assistant Attorney General John C. Demers for the Justice Department’s National Security Division. 

“The threat of terrorism at home and abroad remains, and the National Security Division is committed to holding accountable those who would provide material support to foreign terrorist organizations.  I want to thank the agents, analysts, and prosecutors who are responsible for this case.”

The US has recorded more cases and deaths than any other country, with more than 4.6 million infections, and at least 154,834 confirmed deaths have been confirmed.

Worldwide, nearly 18 million cases and at least 687,072 deaths have been reported.

“To everybody who lives in a rural area, you are not immune or protected from this virus. This epidemic right now is different and it’s more widespread and it’s both rural and urban,” said Dr. Birx, a leading member of the White House’s COVID-19 task force.

Areal images show flumes of smoke filling the sky over the mountainous region, as the National Weather Service reported some smoke had blown east to Phoenix, Arizona – nearly 300 miles away.

The US Forest Service reported that because the fire was on rugged terrain, it is dangerous for firefighters to try and surround it:

“We don’t want to put fire-fighters in a dangerous situation,” said spokesperson Lisa Cox. “It’s burning in a straight line up a mountain.”
