“One in six children in northeastern (Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa) suffer from severe malnutrition. Indeed, one in every two children (50 percent) are stunted in the region. If Nigeria overcomes the menace of malnutrition, 33 percent of poor people will get out of extreme poverty and give their children a better chance at life,” Davis Bamidele Omotola, UNICEF consultant said at a conference on malnutrition in Yola, the capital town of Adamawa, as authorities debated how the cycle of generational poverty may also be broken.

“There will be grave implications if we ignore malnutrition,” Sesugh Akume, a former spokesman for the #BringBackOurGirls movement, told Anadolu Agency. “This issue must be on top of the agenda if we are serious about the future of this country.”

He alluded to the fact that besides having the world’s most substantial mortality rate of under-fives, Nigeria now has at least 35 million severely malnourished children.

“Damon Joseph was allegedly inspired by ISIS’ call to violence and hate.  He planned to attack the victims, based on their religion, at a Toledo-area synagogue in the name of ISIS, and hoped that it would lead to the deaths of many and spread fear,” said Assistant Attorney General Demers.

“His alleged actions would be an assault on the liberties and respect for humanity we hold so dear.  We will continue to make every effort to prevent such attacks from occurring.  I commend the agents, analysts, and prosecutors who identified the threat posed by this defendant and took action to protect the public from his plans,” as the Holland, Ohio, man was charged today in federal court with one count of attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), a designated foreign terrorist organization, for allegedly planning an attack on a synagogue in the Toledo, Ohio area.

Joseph stated his support for violent attacks and operations.  For example, on Oct. 21, Joseph expressed support for “martyrdom operations” and stated: “what must be done, must be done” and “there will always be casualties of war.”

Joseph did not bother to conceal his terrorist plans regarding the mass shooting at a Jewish synagogue in Pittsburgh, stating: “I admire what the guy did with the shooting.”  He added: “I can see myself carrying out this type of operation inshallah. They wouldn’t even [an attack] expect in my area…”

“Das Bild” magazine headlined “Putin’s Secret Stasi ID Card”, saying a greenish-coloured Stasi ID card with a picture of a young Vladimir Putin on the front page, seemed to suggest that “the former KGB officer and current Kremlin chief…was, until the fall of the Wall, also an employee of the infamous Ministry for State Security!”

The card, a complete, non-edited, and superimposed version of which was not provided was said to have been issued 31 December 1985 to one “Major Vladimir Putin,” valid through the end of 1989, and includes a signature which doesn’t match the Russian president’s current name.

According to Bild, the document had been lost in the “boring classified files” of the “cadres and training” department of the former Stasi administration in Dresden, the East German city where Putin is known to have served during his time in the KGB.

Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano erupted on Thursday, sending ash 30,000 feet (9,144 meters) into the sky.

Authorities warned residents of Big Island to shelter in place.

A massive column of ash and steam that started erupting early in the morning, lasting for only a few minutes, Authorities said residents were safe so long as they stayed out of the surround Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

 A federal jury convicted a  Latvian man identified as  Ruslans Bondars, 37,  a non-citizen of the former USSR who had been hiding in Riga, Latvia, of three counts related to his operation of “Scan4you,” an online counter antivirus service that helped computer hackers to determine whether the computer viruses and other malicious software they created would be detected by antivirus software.        
 

He was convicted after a five-day jury trial of one count of conspiracy to violate the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and one count of computer intrusion with intent to cause damage and aiding and abetting.

 

“Ruslans Bondars helped hackers test and improve the malware they then used to inflict hundreds of millions of dollars in losses on American companies and consumers,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Cronan.  

“Today’s verdict should serve as a warning to those who aid and abet criminal hackers: the Criminal Division and our law enforcement partners consider you to be just as culpable as the hackers whose crimes you enable—and we will work tirelessly to identify you, prosecute you, and seek stiff sentences that reflect the seriousness of your crimes.”

Since last spring, Chinese authorities in the heavily Muslim region of Xinjiang have imprisoned tens, possibly hundreds of thousands of Muslim Chinese — and even foreign citizens — in mass internment camps.

US State Department estimates detainees “at the very least in the tens of thousands”, with detainees who most vigorously criticise the people and things they love are rewarded, and those who refuse are punished with solitary confinement, beatings, and food deprivation. 

This detention campaign has swept across Xinjiang in what a US commission on China last month said was “the largest mass incarceration of a minority population in the world today”.

The US State Department estimated those being held were “at the very least in the tens of thousands”.

A Turkey-based TV station run by Xinjiang exiles said almost 900,000 were detained, citing leaked government documents.

In yet another horror story coming to you courtesy of the “Hippie Communist State” of California, ten children rescued from a Solano County home were punched, kicked, strangled, shot with a BB gun and subjected to waterboarding by their father, as their mother did nothing to stop it, with torture being carried out “for sadistic purposes”.

 

The father, Jonathan Allen, 29, pleaded not guilty to nine counts of child abuse and seven counts of torture, and the children’s mother, Ina Rogers, 31, was charged with nine counts of child abuse. 

She also faces one count of child neglect involving all 10 children.

In a blatant disregard of international law and freedom of navigation, and an arrogant attempt to nullify the ruling by an arbitrage tribunal ruling regarding pirating  lands of sovereign states, China’s will establish control over vast territories of the South China Sea by using a new draft boundary that would claim the right to a wide range of activities in the area, including fishing, natural resources extraction and the construction of military installations.


“If China does indicate its claims in the South China Sea with a continuous line which joins up the nine dashes, it would represent a complete repudiation of the July 2016 arbitrage tribunal ruling,” Dr Ian J. Storey, senior fellow with Yusof Ishak Institute in Singapore, warned that changes to the nine-dash line may undermine regional stability.

The “Fake News” media has been salivating about the good chemistry between President Trump, and China’s “Cult of Personality” Mr. Xi, and predicting a “Nobel Prize” for Comrade Un and Mr. Trump’s expected “de-nuclearization of the Korean peninsula”, forgetting that the brand of communism preached by Most Reverend Mr.Xi is a relentless application of force and disregard to human rights.

Fadi al-Batsh, a “Scientist of Palestine’s youth scholars”, a “loyal” member of Hamas, and well known to be an expert on drones and rockets was gunned down by two men on a motorcycle who fired 10 shots as he walked to morning prayers in Kuala Lumpur. A Malaysian official said the suspects and victim may have worked for intelligence agencies, prompting concern that he may have been assassinated.

The police chief said video footage from CCTV cameras near the scene of the shooting showed that two suspects waited for nearly 20 minutes in the area before attacking.

“We believe the lecturer was their target because two other individuals walked by the place earlier unharmed,” he said. “We will view the recordings of all the CCTV in the area to identify the suspects and get the registration number of the motorcycle.”

Batsh’s uncle, Jamal al-Batsh believed his nephew was killed by Israel’s espionage service.

Refik Turan, head of the Turkish Historical Society, said that war is an inevitable fact of life, and evidence shows that some 12.5 million Muslims have been killed in wars during the last 25 years.

“Usually war is between two states, but there are wars within the country as well. The results of a war cannot be predicted. Wars are a fact of our lives,” he said at the “World Wars, Turkey and Syria on Unending Struggles for Power” conference.

“According to a recent research, the number of Muslims who died in the fights and wars in the world in the last 25 years have reached 12.5 million. This almost accounts for the losses in a World War.”

Dr. Turan also said that the U.S., Russia, and Iran do not want peace in Syria, and the net result is evident.

A Chinese navy formation featuring aircraft carrier Liaoning conducted confrontation exercises in the West Pacific, including missile destroyers, J-15 fighters, and shipboard helicopters, in a drill that aims to test the combat operation of the formation in high seas.

The exercise focused on the joint operation of vessels and shipboard aircraft in unfamiliar seas tested the establishment and maintenance of the formation’s attack and defense system and has achieved expected goals, according to Gao Zhaorui, chief of staff of the formation.
