BALTIMORE – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged immigration detainers on three defendants charged in the May 29 murder of 16-year-old Gabriela Ardon. In addition to being illegally present in the United States, they are believed to be members or associates of Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13), a transnational criminal organization.

“In this case, two of the suspects arrested had previously been encountered by ICE but due to state and local policies that put politics above public safety, they were released to the street,” said Acting Baltimore Field Office Director Francisco Madrigal.

“This is the worst-case scenario when detainers are not honored.”

ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) lodged detainers with the Baltimore County Detention Center on unlawfully present Salvadoran nationals Wilson Art Constanza-Galdomez, 21, and Wualter Orellana- Hernandez, 19, and unlawfully present Honduran national Jonathan J. Pesquera-Puerto, 19. All three have been charged with first degree murder, first degree assault, and kidnapping in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County, Maryland. The suspects were already in police custody in connection to a June 6 assault of three individuals resulting in the death of a woman. All entered the United States as minors.

President Donald Trump recorded a video message, saying he and First Lady Melania Trump are “doing very well”, after being posted on Twitter as he was taken to hospital “out of an abundance of caution”, less than 24 hours after testing positive for coronavirus.

Mr. Trump walked out of the White House to the Marine One helicopter, which flew him to Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre.

After the president reported testing positive for the novel coronavirus, and was airlifted with First Lady Melania Trump to a military hospital, his personal physician Dr. Sean Conley reported that he is “doing very well” and is on track to making a full recovery.

“Just 72 hours into the diagnosis now, the first week of Covid, and in particular days 7-10 are the most critical in determining the likely course of this illness. At this time the team and I are extremely happy with the progress the president has made,” Conley said, speaking to reporters in Bethesda, Maryland on Saturday.

According to the doctor, Trump experienced fever, a “mild cough, some nasal congestion and fatigue” on Thursday, “all of which are now resolving and improving.”

Dr. Sean Dooley, another physician monitoring the president’s health, said Trump’s cardiac, liver and kidney function were all “normal,” and that he was not receiving oxygen, and has shown no problems breathing or walking around the White House Medical Unit.

“He’s in exceptionally good spirits, and in fact as we were completing our multidisciplinary rounds this morning, the quote he left us with was ‘I feel like I could walk out of here today’, and that was a very encouraging comment from the president,” Dooley added.
