Twenty-four MS-13 members are facing a federal indictment for violent racketeering, murder, and money laundering conspiracies, including 
five murders, conspiring to murder eight persons, engaging in kidnappings, extortion, and drug trafficking.

“MS-13 is ravaging communities throughout the United States with brutal violence, recruiting children to their murderous ranks, destroying families, and leaving behind countless victims,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Cronan. “This indictment — which charges two dozen alleged MS-13 members with senseless acts of violence — is the latest example of the Department of Justice’s unwavering commitment to combatting violent gangs that prey on communities, whether in Maryland or elsewhere in our country.”

US intelligence agencies believe North Korea has increased production of fuel for nuclear weapons, including at the facility at Yongbyon and maybe one or more secret sites unknown the US, contradicting statements expressed by President Donald Trump, who claimed after the June 12 summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un that “there is no longer a nuclear threat from North Korea”. 

“There is absolutely unequivocal evidence that they are trying to deceive the US,” an intelligence official was quoted as saying. 

The CIA declined to comment on the report. The State Department said it could not confirm it and did not comment on matters of intelligence.

The US Department of Defense is examining options for withdrawing US forces stationed in the Islamic Merkeldom of Germany and moving the 35,000 soldiers to Poland after President Donald Trump expressed interest in such a move, despite that neither German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen nor her US counterpart, Jim Mattis, mentioned such a plan after their meeting last week. 

The Islamic Merkledom of Germany spent 1.25 % of its GDP on defense in 2017 and plans to hit 1.5% by 2024, but Poland spent 2% of its GDP on defense and is about to meet the NATO alliance target.

An MS-13 member identified as Joel “Animal” Martinez, was sentenced to 40 years in prison following a multi-agency probe for racketeering conspiracy involving the murder of a 15-year-old boy in East Boston as a result of the HSI Boston investigation.

Martinez, 23, a citizen and national of El Salvador who formerly lived in East Boston will be subject to deportation upon completion of his sentence, after pleading guilty to conspiracy to conduct enterprise affairs through a pattern of racketeering activity.

He murdered a 15-year-old boy on Trenton Street in East Boston. During recorded conversations between the gang member and a cooperating witness, Martinez acknowledged being a member of MS-13 and admitted that he stabbed the victim to death. Specifically, Martinez said, “I stabbed the culero three times,” and stated, “He stared at me and he asked me if I was going to, if I was going to stab him. I told him, ‘Yes, the Mara (Mara Salvatrucha, MS-13) rules you.’”

ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents along with U.S. Customs and Border Protection conducted Atlanta’s first-ever event at the world’s busiest airport, to bring awareness to the illegal practice of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and educate persons as to the serious penalties that exist under U.S. law for engaging in its practice.

“Removing or cutting the genital organs of a female child is a federal crime regardless of whether it’s done inside the U.S. or the child is transported outside the country for that purpose,” said HSI Atlanta Special Agent in Charge Nick Annan. “FGM is irreversible and HSI, along with its law enforcement partners, will seek prosecution of anyone subject to U.S. law it finds attempting to engage in its illegal practice.”

Specifically, Title 18 of United States Code (U.S.C.) §116, prohibits the knowing circumcision, excision, or infibulation in whole or in part of the labia majora, labia minora, or clitoris of a person under 18 years, and despite that more than 200 million girls and women alive today have undergone female genital mutilation. 

 

While primarily concentrated in north, west, and central Africa, as well as parts of the Middle East and Asia, FGM also occurs in the United States. The Centers for Disease Control estimates that approximately 500,000 women and girls in the United States are either victims of FGM or are at risk of being subjected to it.

An effort to disrupt a global botnet of hundreds of thousands of infected home and office (SOHO) routers and other networked devices under the control of a group of actors known as the “Sofacy Group” (also known as “apt28,” “sandworm,” “x-agent,” “pawn storm,” “fancy bear” and “sednit”). The group, which has been operating since at least in or about 2007, targets government, military, security organizations, and other targets of perceived intelligence value were announced by US Justice Department. 

“The Department of Justice is committed to disrupting, not just watching, national security cyber threats using every tool at our disposal, and today’s effort is another example of our commitment to do that,” said Assistant Attorney General Demers. “This operation is the first step in the disruption of a botnet that provides the Sofacy actors with an array of capabilities that could be used for a variety of malicious purposes, including intelligence gathering, theft of valuable information, destructive or disruptive attacks, and the misattribution of such activities.”

“The United States Attorney’s Office will continue to aggressively fight against threats to our national security by criminals, no matter who they work for,” said U.S. Attorney Brady. “This court-ordered seizure will assist in the identification of victim devices and disrupts the ability of these hackers to steal personal and other sensitive information and carry out disruptive cyber attacks. We will be relentless in protecting the people of Western Pennsylvania – from international corporations to local businesses to the elderly – from these threats.”

 North Korea repeated a threat to pull out of the summit with Mr. Trump next month and warned it was prepared for a nuclear showdown with Washington if necessary, made it worse by a statement released by DPRK Vice Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui had called US Vice President Mike Pence a “political dummy” for comparing his country, a “nuclear weapons state” to Libya.

An experimental new cancer treatment drug, using magnetite nanoparticles laced with a toxic cytostatic agent which destroys tumor cells, and vector molecules, which accompany and direct the nanoparticles to the cancer-affected organ have been tested by the Medical University Biomedical Nanomaterials Lab in Moscow.

“Our studies have shown that the proposed therapeutic regiment is effective. In vitro and in vivo experiments show that the lifespan of animals treated with the new drug increased by 69.5%, from 23 days to 39 days. Furthermore, the drug can be used to visualize tumor tissue during MRI studies. This can potentially serve to facilitate the work of surgeons during operations aimed at designating and marking the edges of the affected organ,” the chief researcher Maxim Abakumov reported.

A physician named Jorge Zamora-Quezada, 61, of McAllen, Texas area was charged in an indictment for his role in a $240 million health care fraud and international money laundering scheme with one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud, five counts of health care fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering. 

“Jorge Zamora-Quezada allegedly orchestrated a massive fraud scheme that jeopardized the health and well-being of innocent children, elderly, and disabled victims,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Cronan. “The allegations that Zamora-Quezada violated his oath to do no harm by administering unnecessary chemotherapy and other toxic medications to patients with serious diseases — including some of the most vulnerable victims imaginable — are almost beyond comprehension. The Criminal Division is committed to combatting health care fraud and protecting victims of reprehensible schemes like the one alleged in this case.”

As alleged in the indictment, from 2000 through the filing of the indictment, Zamora-Quezada and his co-conspirators falsely diagnosed vulnerable patients — including the young, elderly and disabled, from the Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and elsewhere — with various degenerative diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis. He and his co-conspirators then administered chemotherapy and other toxic medications to the patients based on that false diagnosis. In addition to falsely diagnosing patients, Zamora-Quezada and his co-conspirators allegedly conducted a battery of fraudulent, repetitive, and excessive medical procedures on patients in order to increase revenue and fund Zamora-Quezada’s lavish and opulent lifestyle.

An international group of aviation experts has concluded that Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 (MH370), which vanished en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing in March 2014, was deliberately crashed by the plane’s pilot, 53-year-old Zaharie Ahmad Shah, purposefully killing the 239 people as well as himself into the Indian Ocean in a murder-suicide.



“[Shah] was killing himself; unfortunately, he was killing everybody else on board, but he did it deliberately,”a senior investigator with the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, Larry Vance, said on the Sunday night program.


“There is no reason to believe that the pilot did not depressurize the cabin to incapacitate the passengers,” Vance said.


Boeing 777 pilot and instructor Simon Hardy, who reconstructed the flight plan, claims that Shah flew along the borders of Malaysia and Thailand to avoid being detected by military radar.
