A 33-year-old Chinese worker at the Baotou Steel factory, identified as Wang Long committed suicide by jumping into a working blast furnace containing molten metals at temperatures as high as 1,500 degrees Celsius (2,700 degrees Fahrenheit), a man who has been working at the factory for 10 years, had suddenly gone missing on 24 March during his night shift.
His mysterious disappearance was soon explained after the company reviewed surveillance footage from that night, after a video showed Wang Long taking off his helmet and gloves, and throwing them into the furnace only to follow them in a few moments.
Baotou Steel alleged in its statement that the worker’s brutal suicide was triggered by the loss of $9,100 on the stock market and the inability to “repay his heavy debts”. It is unclear if Wang Long left a suicide note.
In comparison to many of the world’s major economies, China’s has been enjoying rapid recovery rates, largely to due to a quick lifting of coronavirus lockdown measures. However, the country’s stock market rally has since been impeded by tensions with western governments, including the US, and new rounds of sanctions.

US multinational investment bank Goldman Sachs could soon offer investment vehicles for Bitcoin and other digital assets, with the digital assets will be offered to clients in the second quarter, according to Mary Rich, global head of digital assets to Goldman Sachs private wealth management division:
″We are working closely with teams across the firm to explore ways to offer thoughtful and appropriate access to the ecosystem for private wealth clients, and that is something we expect to offer in the near-term,” she said in a recent interview.
Goldman plans to offer a “full spectrum” of investment in digital assets, including bitcoin, “whether that’s through the physical bitcoin, derivatives or traditional investment vehicles,” Rich added.

SEATTLE — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers removed three public safety threats who combined have criminal convictions by the state of Washington that include child molestation, rape of a child, and sex abuse. All three Mexican citizens and were removed to Mexico, March 23.
“In keeping with our overarching mission and enforcement priorities, it remains paramount that we continue to focus our efforts and resources against those who pose the greatest threat to public safety – that absolutely includes apprehending and removing sexual predators, such as these, who prey on and victimize children,” said ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Seattle Field Office Director Nathalie Asher.
The following individuals came to the attention of ICE’s ERO officers as a result of their criminal convictions:
Manuel Alvarez-Vazquez, 56, convicted by the Superior Court of Washington for Pierce County of child molestation and sentenced to 75 months confinement. He was taken into ICE custody upon his release from the Stafford Creek Corrections Center in Aberdeen, Feb. 18;
Margarito Gordian Cruz, 49, convicted by the Superior Court of Washington for Yakima County of child molestation, rape of a child, and sex abuse and sentenced to 116 months confinement. He was taken into ICE custody upon his release from the Stafford Creek Corrections Center, Feb. 18;
Alfredo Maldonado-Maldonado, 29, convicted by the Superior Court of Washington for Snohomish County of rape of a child and sentenced to 20 months confinement. He was taken into ICE custody following his release from the Washington State Department of Correction in Shelton, Feb. 19.

Italy’s the health ministry will impose a mandatory five-day coronavirus quarantine for people arriving from EU countries or returning from trips within the bloc until April 6, and travelers must also take a Covid-19 test at the end of the quarantine period, as similar measures were already in place for trips to countries outside the European Union. Much of Italy remains under tight coronavirus restrictions as it battles a deadly third wave of infections, with the entire country facing a lockdown over the three-day Easter weekend starting on Saturday. The new quarantine decree will be effective the day after its publication either Tuesday night or Wednesday, a ministry spokesman said. The only exceptions are for reasons of “proven necessity and urgency”.
