A federal grand jury indicted a state-owned enterprise of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), a Taiwan company, and three individuals, charging them with crimes related to a conspiracy to steal, convey, and possess stolen trade secrets of an American semiconductor company for the benefit of a company controlled by the PRC government. All of the defendants are charged with a conspiracy to commit economic espionage, among other crimes. Also, the United States filed a civil lawsuit seeking to enjoin the further transfer of the stolen trade secrets and to enjoin certain defendants from exporting to the United States any products manufactured by UMC or Jinhua that were created using the trade secrets at issue.

“I am announcing that a grand jury in San Francisco has returned a multi-defendant indictment alleging economic espionage on the part of a state-owned Chinese company, a Taiwanese company, and three Taiwan individuals for an alleged scheme to steal trade secrets from Micron, an Idaho-based semiconductor company,” said Attorney General Sessions.

“Micron is worth an estimated $100 billion and has a 20 to 25 percent share of the dynamic random access memory industry—a technology not possessed by the Chinese until very recently. As this and other recent cases have shown, Chinese economic espionage against the United States has been increasing—and it has been increasing rapidly. I am here to say that enough is enough. With integrity and professionalism, the Department of Justice will aggressively prosecute such illegal activity.”

According to the indictment, the defendants were engaged in a conspiracy to steal the trade secrets of Micron Technology, Inc. (Micron), a leader in the global semiconductor industry specializing in the advanced research, development, and manufacturing of memory products, including dynamic random-access memory (DRAM).

The Federal Circuit Court of Appeals issued a precedential opinion today affirming the Court of Federal Claims decision that federal corporate taxpayers may not deduct as a cost of goods sold expense an excise tax expense that was never actually incurred or paid. In Sunoco, Inc. v. United States, No. 2017-1402, the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed the decision of the Court of Federal Claims and the position of the United States. Sunoco, Inc., a petroleum and petrochemical company, claimed approximately $1 billion in alcohol fuel mixture credits on its federal excise tax returns thereby reducing its federal fuel excise tax liability by the same amount. By including the $1 billion in excise tax expenses in its cost of goods sold, Sunoco, Inc. sought to reduce its federal corporate income taxes with an excise tax expense that was never paid. The Federal Circuit held that the plain language of the Internal Revenue Code precluded Sunoco, Inc.’s attempt to obtain a 300 million dollars “windfall” reduction in tax. The court also stated, “We have already established that Congress does not generally allow taxpayers to receive a tax benefit twice.”

The footage sports Jody reiterating “no comment” multiple times, while one of the campaign staffers, while Dominic Chacon, expressed determination to pick some immigrants up at the border as well as provide a supply of “food and blankets,” and give rides to Honduran “aliens.”

Nine criminal aliens and immigration violators, mostly from South America, but some from afar as the Middle East were arrested in a two day sweep in Indiana’s Allen, Elkhart, and St. Joseph counties in the cities of Elkhart (6), Fort Wayne (1), and South Bend (2). 

Most had prior criminal histories that included felony drug convictions and convictions for possessing fraudulent identification documents, immigration violations, and three were arrested for illegally re-entering the United States after having been deported, which is a felony.

Missouri ICE arrested 20 criminal aliens and immigration violators from Brazil (1), El Salvador (3), Guatemala (6), Honduras (1), Mexico (7), Romania (1) and Sierra Leone (1).  in the Kansas City metro area during a four-day enforcement operation in the following cities: St. Joseph (6), Belton (1), Blue Springs (1), Independence (2) and Kansas City (6). ICE officers also made arrests in the Kansas cities of Olathe (3) and Lawrence (1).Most of the detainees had long rap sheets, starting with driving under the influence, child neglect, child abuse, drug offenses, fraud, larceny and illegal re-entry.

“The continued results of our deportation officers underscore ICE’s ongoing and steady commitment to public safety,” said Ricardo Wong, field office director for ERO Chicago. “As part of this operation, we continue to focus on the arrest of individuals who are criminal aliens and public safety threats. Because of the tireless efforts of these professional officers, there are fewer criminals in our communities.”

A huge blast occurred in London’s district of Harold Hill, located in the northeastern part of the British capital, prompting evacuations in the area.

The fire crews and police officers arrived at the scene of a reported explosion.

The police haven’t deemed the incident was a terrorist act so far. A police spokesman said to the Sunday Express that “officers are unable to confirm the cause of the explosion but inquiries are underway.”

There’s no information about those wounded or killed in the incident.

The roads have been closed and drivers were advised to avoid the area.

A Missouri man named Fredrick Demond Scott, 23,  who once threatened to “kill all white people” was indicted in the killings of three white males and is now accused in six killings overall, including deaths of David Lenox, 67, Timothy Rice, 57, and Michael Darby, 61.

Scott was also charged last summer in the deaths of Steven, Gibbons, 57, John Palmer, 54 and Karen Harmeyer, 64.

The five male victims were all shot as they walked on or near the trails, and the female victim was homeless, and her shot decomposing body was found in a tent in woods in Grandview.

Scott’s mother has said that her son suffers from schizophrenia.

This is beyond the pale,” Acting ICE Director Tom Homan said about her warning to gang members and other violent criminals who were residents of her city.

The White House called Mayor Schaaf’s actions “outrageous” and said the Department of Justice is reviewing the case.

  The ObamaCare repeal fiasco, welfare reform, and fiscal responsibility seem to be elusive as ever, as the unintended consequences of the recently declared “steel and aluminum” war may soon raise its ugly head.

Still, conservatives are on a solid ground when they rate their leader, who has done what he promised, a very good start in direction of 2020 re-election efforts.
