Some seven hundred and eighteen members accused of being part of a Kurdish militant group that Turkey said executed 13 of its citizens in northern Iraq, are now under detention, with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan assailing the new US administration for failing to immediately accept its version of the incident, as the mass arrests were announced a day after Ankara said Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) rebels had executed the 13 captives, blaming Turkish airstrikes on their bases for their deaths, with most of the captives being soldiers and police abducted in southeast Turkey and kept in an Iraqi cave.
The PKK has been waging an insurgency against the Turkish state since 1984 thought to have left tens of thousands dead.

Ms. Suu Kyi’s lawyer said she would be detained for a further two days, then be tried via video link at a court in the capital Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday, after was rounded up with other members of the government on February 1, but her detention was due to end on 15 February, with the charges against her include possession of unlawful communication devices – walkie-talkies used by her security staff.
Her party was elected in a resounding victory last November, but the military has alleged voter fraud without providing proof, Internet access in Myanmar is being blocked for a second consecutive night.
