Ann unsuccessful drone attack on the infamous Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has unleashed a deluge of accusations and finger pointing at possible “bad fate” actors, including Venezuelan rebels, right-wing foes, the Colombian government, ill-wishers in Florida, a gas tank accident and not to be forgotten, the “evil forces” of the CIA.

The assassination attempt was timed to unravel during a military event in the country’s capital, as nearby explosion interrupted Maduro’s televised speech, leaving seven people injured, and the head of state was unscathed following the alleged attack.

“That drone was coming for me but there was a shield of love. I am sure I will live for many more years,” he said, adding that the initial investigation points to links to Colombia and its President Juan Manuel Santos in particular, as well as Florida-based financiers.

Mr.Maduro should be hardly surprised by the hostile attack, in fact, should go to church and thank God that it took so long for someone to throw a hand grenade at him, still sparing his miserable life, after he has led his oil-rich country into a three digits inflation reminiscent to the Weimar Republic in pre-Hitler Germany,  food and medicine riots, and gross violations of human rights.

A magnitude 7.0 earthquake shook eastern Indonesia, the centre originating northeast of the city of Mataram on the island of Lombok, 10 miles under the surface, according to the Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG).

A tsunami alert was also issued for the region, and there is no official word yet about deaths or injuries.

Last week, one person was killed when a magnitude 6.4 quake struck the same region, leading to the evacuation of more than 1,000 mountaineers.(AA)

Twenty people aboard a vintage plane were killed when it crashed in the Swiss Alps, including two pilots, a flight attendant and 17 passengers, when the plane was lost at an altitude of 8,330 feet.

Search and rescue teams continue operations in the area.

It has been a bad week for Swiss aviation, as yet another small plane crashed in Hergiswil municipality killing a family of four, including two children.

The Department of Justice today announced the arrest of more than 2,300 suspected online child sex offenders during a three-month, nationwide, the operation conducted by Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task forces. The task forces identified 195 offenders who either produced child pornography or committed child sexual abuse, and 383 children who suffered recent, ongoing, or historical sexual abuse or production of child pornography.

The 61 ICAC task forces, located in all 50 states and comprised of more than 4,500 federal, state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies, led the coordinated operation known as “Broken Heart” during the months of March, April, and May 2018. During the course of the operation, the task forces investigated more than 25,200 complaints of technology-facilitated crimes against children and delivered more than 3,700 presentations on Internet safety to over 390,000 youth and adults.

“No child should ever have to endure sexual abuse,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions said. “And yet, in recent years, certain forms of modern technology have facilitated the spread of child pornography and created greater incentives for its production. We at the Department of Justice are determined to strike back against these repugnant crimes. It is shocking and very sad that in this one operation, we have arrested more than 2,300 alleged child predators and investigated some 25,200 sexual abuse complaints. Any would-be criminal should be warned: this Department will remain relentless in hunting down those who victimize our children.”

The operation targeted suspects who: (1) produce, distribute, receive and possess child pornography; (2) engage in online enticement of children for sexual purposes; (3) engage in the sex trafficking of children; and (4) travel across state lines or to foreign countries and sexually abuse children.

US President Donald Trump has confirmed North Korean leader Kim Jong-un have signed an agreement to work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula after their historic meeting in Singapore.

Mr.Trump described his meeting with Chairman Kim as “honest, direct and productive”.

“We got to know each other well in a very confined period of time, under very strong, strong circumstances.

“We’re prepared to start a new history and we’re ready to write a new chapter between our nations.”
And he trusts that Kim is going to live up to his promises seek.

He announced there will be no more war games with South Korea

President Donald Trump on Tuesday said that North Korea’s denuclearization process will start “very quickly” as the pair wrapped up an unprecedented meeting on Sentosa Island in Singapore, as the two leaders signed what was described as a “comprehensive” deal in front of international camera crews.

Mr.Trump was full of praise for his “very smart” North Korean counterpart, describing their “very special bond” and a total shift in Washington’s relationship with Pyongyang.

North Korea has repeatedly threatened to attack the U.S., after decades of hostility and suspicion since the 1950-53 Korean War closed with a ceasefire. Trump increasingly hit back with his own rhetoric since taking office last year.

But Kim told reporters at the Capella Hotel that they have chosen to “leave the past behind”.

Trump also confirmed he would invite the North’s leader to the White House.

The opposition-dominated Venezuelan parliament issued fresh economic data on Monday, showing that inflation for the month of May spiked 110.1 percent compared with April, and sending annual inflation to a staggering 24,571 percent.

With daily inflation running at 2.4 percent, the country’s currency, the bolivar, plunged about 98 percent in the course of the past 12 months alone.

“It’s a tragedy that we are experiencing every day,” said the parliament’s finance commission spokesman Rafael Guzman as he revealed the latest figures.

Opposition politicians in the South American country blame the socialist government of President Nicolas Maduro for the massive economic crisis. Years of mismanagement had led to widespread shortages of food and medicine, they said and had caused the oil-rich country and its state-owned oil company PDVSA to default on some of its debt.

The government says US sanctions and financial speculators have caused the economic crisis to worsen in recent months.

Making ends meet

While parliamentary leaders have called on the government to abandon 15-year-old currency controls and stop printing money, hyperinflation is devastating Venezuelans, whose salaries often are not enough to pay for one meal a day.

In May, 2.2 lbs of meat cost about 2 million bolivars (€16.9 or $20). But the monthly salary of a surgeon stood at less than 6 million bolivars.

Worried by growing discontent, the Maduro government nearly doubled the minimum salary in May, raising it to 2.5 million bolivars per month.

But the hike seems to have poured only more gasoline on the flames of hyperinflation, as consumers rushed to buy the few products available in stores and thereby drive prices even higher.

The International Monetary Fund has forecast that Venezuela’s hyperinflation will top 13,800 percent this year, but some lawmakers believe it could be at least 100,000% and possibly 300,000%.

A report, named “Moscow’s Gold: Russian Corruption in the UK”, points out that Russian gas giant Gazprom was able to trade bonds in London “days after the attempted murders” of Mr. Scripal and his daughter; i.e. business between the UK and Russia had resumed so swiftly prompted the Russian embassy in London to tweet: “Business as usual?”

“The scale of damage that this ‘dirty money’ can do to UK foreign policy interests dwarfs the benefit of Russian transactions in the City.

“The UK must be clear that the corruption stemming from the Kremlin is no longer welcome in our markets and we will act,” said Mr Tugendhat.

A Macedonian climber and a Japanese alpinist are among the dead on Mt. Everest in this year’s spring climbing, which ends later this month, officials said on Monday.

Macedonian climber, Gjeorgi Petkov, 62, died over the weekend near camp 3 at 7,200 meters above sea level, said Gyanendra Shrestha, a Tourism Ministry official at Everest base camp.

Details were few, but local media reported that he died of heart problems.

Thirty-six-year-old Japanese alpinist Nobukazu Kuriki, who lost nine fingers to frostbite in a previous attempt on Everest, was found dead at a higher camp on the 8,848-meter peak, said Shrestha.

Kuriki was a “true alpinist” who was accompanied by a large film crew shooting his Himalayan adventure, according to Alan Arnett, a U.S. blogger on mountaineering.

Nepal is home to eight of the world’s highest peaks. Hundreds of climbers flock to the country during spring climbing season, which runs between April and May. The two months offer several windows for climbers to scale the snow-capped peaks.

Maduro first took office in 2013 after his predecessor Hugo Chavez died, and is set to govern Venezuela for another six-year term, from January 2019 to 2025.

We warned long ago that an organized attempt to remove President Trump from office is underway, and if this activity is not curtailed soon, the market will open on gap below 20,000 with next stop 17300 and 11800 support levels.

We have to wait and see if new Fed chair Powell will attempt to destroy Eurasian block by sending gold prices below 1000, despite the fact both Russia and China have been buying their whole gold production in local gold backed currency instead of money printing machines. In other words, US has lost controls of the precious metals complex, and with Trump’s infrastructure and tax cut campaign the National debt will soon be at, or over 30 trillion dollars, since D.C. swamp alligators have no intention dropping their pet projects.
