2…………> US Visitors Vetting: Social Media  History

Nearly all applicants for US visas will have to submit their social media details under newly adopted rules, as the State Department regulations say people will have to submit social media names and five years’ worth of email addresses and phone numbers.

When proposed last year, authorities estimated the proposal would affect 14.7 million people annually, but certain diplomatic and official visa applicants will be exempt from the stringent new measures.

However, people travelling to the US to work or to study will have to hand over their information.

“We are constantly working to find mechanisms to improve our screening processes to protect US citizens, while supporting legitimate travel to the United States,” the department said.

3…………> India Joins The Tariffs Gang “Usual Suspects”: Trump

Washington accuses New Delhi of deploying a wide range of trade barriers that negatively affect US commerce, and in return, India could impose higher import duties on US goods in response, but it would lose its trade privileges with the US as a beneficiary of the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP), according to President Trump.

The GSP program was introduced more than 40 years ago, in 1976, to promote economic growth in developing countries, allowing the export of certain products from these nations to the US duty free.

New Delhi said that it viewed the issue as part of its ongoing economic relationship with the US and “will continue to build on our strong ties with the US, both economic and people-to-people“.

Removing a country from the GSP requires 60 days’ notice, and it appears that President Trump waited until after India’s mammoth elections before completing the move.

In a letter to leaders of the US Congress on March 4, the White House said that India and Turkey were set to lose their preferential trade treatment with the US.

4…………> No Trade/Tariffs War With US: Mexico’s President

Mexico’s president on Saturday said his country could tighten migration controls to deal with US President Donald Trump’s threat to impose tariffs on Mexican goods, while saying that he expected “good results” from talks planned in Washington next week.

“The main thing is to inform about what we’re already doing on the migration issue, and if it’s necessary to reinforce these measures without violating human rights, we could be prepared to reach that deal,” Lopez Obrador said.

“We’re doing all we can to reach a deal through dialogue. We’re not going to get into a trade war, a war of tariffs and of taxes,” he said.

His comments follow those of deputy foreign minister for North America Jesus Seade, who told Reuters on Friday that Mexico wanted to sharpen existing measures to curb the flow of Central Americans trying to reach the US.

Lopez Obrador also said Mexico would not pursue trade wars with the United States, but noted that his government had a “plan” in case Trump did apply the tariffs.

1…………> Back To Pravda: Liberal Censorship

Social media platforms are “totally discriminating” against users with right-wing views, and mainstream “Fake News” outlets like CNN and MSNBC are”sick,” President Trump commented after several top social media platforms including Facebook and Spotify curbed or banned accounts of far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.

….Too many voices are being destroyed, some good & some bad, and that cannot be allowed to happen. Who is making the choices, because I can already tell you that too many mistakes are being made? Let everybody participate, good & bad, and we will all just have to figure it out!

…..Censorship is a very dangerous thing & absolutely impossible to police. If you are weeding out Fake News, there is nothing so Fake as CNN & MSNBC, & yet I do not ask that their sick behavior is removed. I get used to it and watch with a grain of salt, or don’t watch at all..

Social Media is totally discriminating against Republican/Conservative voices. Speaking loudly and clearly for the Trump Administration, we won’t let that happen. They are closing down the opinions of many people on the RIGHT, while at the same time doing nothing to others…….

2…………> Solitary Island: Water, Sky & You

The Ross family of lighthouse keepers on South Solitary Island, about 10 miles off the coast of Coffs Harbour spent the early 1970s on the island before the lighthouse was automated and the isle abandoned in 1975.

“It was fascinating, but we didn’t appreciate it for what it was until we grew up and met other people who had more boring lives,” Mr. Ross said.

“We just got on with it and did what kids do — we made billy-carts. There were no Playstations or anything like that around, so we had to make our entertainment.”

A unique childhood South Solitary Island is just 23 acres in size, a rocky isle cut in two by a significant passage of water around 30 feet wide.

Mr. Ross admits growing up on the island gave him respect for safety.

“I think we learned a lot about being responsible for yourself because we used to play around some pretty dangerous rock ledges and things like that. So if we messed that up we’d be seriously hurt,” he said.

“We had to make sure we were careful in what we were doing, and I think we brought that into adulthood.” The Ross family was one of three on the island. The lighthouse needed a keeper 24 hours a day, so the shifts were split between three men.

3…………> EU Bailout: Finally Over

The 20th of  August, 2018 marks the formal end of the bailout of Greece for receiving emergency loans in the wake of Europe’s financial crisis, and now the Greek government will have to finance its spending through taxes or by borrowing in the financial markets, though it will be decades before it is all repaid. Five other countries received bailout loans – Greece, Ireland, Portugal, Spain and Cyprus – and at the most intense points of the crisis there were genuine doubts about whether the eurozone would survive, or at the very least whether some countries would drop out.

5…………> Mexico Meth Bust: A Record

An anonymous tip to the Mexican marines led to the discovery of an underground drug lab in the mountains on the northwest coast near the town of Alcyonium where 50 tons of methamphetamine were destroyed on the site of the production facility.

The remote area of the mountains is about 12 miles outside the state capital of Sinaloa state, the hunting grounds of infamous cartel boss Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman who led his criminal enterprise until his arrest in 2016.

Since his declaration of war against the cartels in 2006, there have been 127,000 crime-related murders and thousands of disappearances since 2006. Mexico recorded more homicides in 2017 than in any other year in its modern history.

“The failed crime and violence strategy will change,” President-elect Lopez Obrador said when he won the elections in July.

“We will address the causes of crime and violence.”
