President Trump accused China of attempting to interfere with the upcoming United States congressional elections, and claimed opposition to his robust trade policy motivates its efforts, a charge China dismissed claims as rubbish and “nonsense.”

Mr. Trump pointed to a Chinese state media company’s four-page supplement in Iowa’s Sunday Des Moines Register promoting the mutual benefits of US-China trade as “propaganda.”

“China is placing propaganda ads in the Des Moines Register and other papers, made to look like news,” Mr. Trump said in a tweet.

“I love China. I think they’re great. But you don’t hear that so much anymore. You know who’s great now? We’re great now,” Mr. Trump said.

He added that he would describe Chinese President Xi Jinping as a friend, prompting a reporter to ask how that could be the case given the allegations of meddling.

“Maybe he’s not anymore, I’ll be honest with you,” Mr. Trump replied.

Federal officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) arrested 98 criminal aliens and immigration violators in North Texas and Oklahoma during a 10-day enforcement action, which ended Friday.

Of the 98 arrested, 67 had criminal convictions; 87 men and 11 women were arrested. They range in age from 19 to 62 years old, originating from the following six countries: Mexico (82), El Salvador (7), Honduras (6), Marshall Islands (1), Pakistan (1) and Peru (1).

Most of the aliens had prior criminal histories that included convictions for the following crimes: alien smuggling, assault, burglary, dangerous drugs, discharge of a firearm, domestic violence, driving under the influence, drug trafficking, fraud, illegal entry, hit & run, homicide, larceny, lewd or lascivious acts with a minor, marijuana possession, possessing a weapon, probation violation, resisting officer, sex assault, sex offense, sex offense against a child, traffic offense and trespassing.

Five confirmed and documented gang members were also arrested during this operation.

Deportation officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) arrested 83 criminal aliens and immigration violators in Wisconsin during a four-day enforcement action, which ended Monday.

Aliens arrested during this operation are from the following eight countries: Columbia (1), Guatemala (6), Honduras (2), Mexico (68), Nicaragua (3), Russia (1), Thailand (1) and Vietnam (1).

More than half of the aliens arrested had prior criminal histories that included convictions for the following crimes. Those included indecent exposure to a minor (an aggravated felony), assault, sexual assault, child abuse, domestic violence, domestic abuse, larceny, receiving stolen property, driving under the influence, identity theft, illegal re-entry after deportation, indecent liberty with a minor, obstructing police, theft, battery and weapon offenses.

Sixteen of those arrested were immigration fugitives with no previous criminal convictions; 21 others illegally re-entered the United States after having been previously deported, which is a felony. Depending on an alien’s criminality, an alien who re-enters the United States after having been previously deported commits a crime punishable by up to 20 years in federal prison, if convicted.

The 51-year-old college professor named Christine Blasey Ford fought back the tears and said she was “terrified,” but wanted to share her experience “because I believe it is my civic duty to tell what happened to while Brett Kavanaugh and I were in high school” as she told a Senate committee about an alleged sexual assault by President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee when they were both teenagers in the 1980s.

Ford said Kavanaugh locked her in a bedroom during a social gathering and pinned her to the bed. “Brett groped me and tried to take off my clothes. He was having a hard time because he was inebriated… I believed he was going to rape me.”

The high-stakes hearing could determine Kavanaugh’s chances of securing the lifetime post on the country’s top court. Kavanaugh, who was to appear separately, was expected to tell senators he did not commit any of the crimes leveled against him.

Ford said her strongest memory from the alleged assault was that Kavanaugh and another boy were “drunkenly laughing during the attack…and they’re having fun at my expense.”
Ford said she suffered anxiety and PTSD-type symptoms, and struggled academically in the years after the incident.

Austrian newspaper “Der Standard” reported that the Islamic Merkeldom of Germany’s intelligence service BND(aka Merkel’s Gestapo) was snooping on diplomatic representatives in Vienna, including embassies of the US, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Libya, Afghanistan, Israel and North Korea, keeping track of phone numbers and other means of contact in the association of oil trading countries OPEC, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The BND was apparently also keeping tabs on dozens of private companies, including weapons manufacturers and other key exporters, but also Austrian ministries, Islamist movements, and even the country’s news agency APA. 


“The scale of the surveillance was enormous,” Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said of the spy effort, which reportedly involved around 2,000 targets and took place between 1999 and 2006, calling on the Islamic Merkeldom of Germany to clarify reports that its BND spy agency had snooped on high-profile targets including embassies, international organizations, Austrian ministers and banks based in the Austrian capital. 
Talking to reporters at a specially convened press conference in Vienna, Kurz said his government already contacted German authorities and demanded more information on who was spied on and when the effort was ended.“We want to have certainty that (the surveillance) ended, and if data were saved, our request is of course for it to be deleted,” Kurz said.

Reaction to White House Statements about the Midyear Investigation On Sunday, October 11, 2015, an interview of then President Barack Obama was aired on the CBS show 60 Minutes. During this interview, Obama characterized former Secretary Clinton’s use of a private email server as a “mistake,” but stated that it did not “pose[] a national security problem” and was “not a situation in which America’s national security was endangered.” Obama also stated that the issue had been “ginned up” because of the presidential race. Two days later, on October 13, 2015, Obama’s Press Secretary, Josh Earnest, was asked whether Obama’s comments “should be read as an attempt to steer the direction of the FBI investigation.” Earnest replied that Obama made his comments based on public information, and they were not intended to influence an independent investigation. Former President Obama’s comments caused concern among FBI officials about the potential impact on the investigation. Former EAD John Giacalone told the OIG, “[W]e open up criminal investigations. And you have the President of the United States saying this is just a mistake…. That’s a problem, right?” Former AD Randy Coleman expressed the same concern, stating, “[The FBI had] a group of guys in here, professionals, that are conducting an investigation. And the…President of the United States just came out and said there’s no there there.” Coleman said that he would have expected someone in FBI or Department leadership to contact one of Obama’s national security officials, and “tell [him or her], hey knock it off.” Michael Steinbach, the former EAD for the National Security Branch, told the OIG that the comments generated “controversy” within the FBI. Steinbach stated, “[Y]ou’re prejudging the results of an investigation before they really even have been started…. That’s…hugely problematic for us.” Department prosecutors also were concerned.

Medal of Honor recipient Col. George “Bud” Day was posthumously advanced to the rank of brigadier general during a Heritage to Horizons summer concert series at the Air Force Memorial in Arlington, Virginia, June 8, 2018.

Chief of Staff of the Air Force Gen. David L. Goldfein presided over the concert and opened the series by thanking Day and those who served alongside him during the Vietnam War. 

“I’d like to recognize all our Vietnam era veterans and thank them for their service,” said Goldfein. “Tonight we gather to remember those who gave the last measure of devotion, those missing in action, those who endured the harsh and tyrannical treatment at places like the Hanoi Hilton and their families.”

Day, an Air Force fighter pilot who was shot down in the Vietnam War, is considered to be one of America’s most decorated service members. During his military service, he served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Day earned 70 decorations, to include the Congressional Medal of Honor and the Air Force Cross.

The events of August 26, 1967, would indelibly change his life. While flying a mission over North Vietnam, Day was shot down and immediately captured by the North Vietnamese. Nursing a dislocated knee and an arm broken in three places, he managed to escape captivity and evade the enemy for two weeks. He made his way back into South Vietnam, earning the distinction of being the only prisoner to actually escape from North Vietnam. Unfortunately, Day was just two miles from the safety of a U.S. Marine Corps base when he was shot and recaptured by a Viet Cong patrol. 

Thereafter, he defiantly and resolutely endured a brutal, 67-month imprisonment that finally ended in repatriation on March 14, 1973. Three days later, Day was reunited with his wife and four children at March Air Force Base, California.

A federal grand jury returned a two-count indictment against Everitt Aaron Jameson, 26, of Modesto, California, charging him with attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), a designated foreign terrorist organization, and distribution of information relating to destructive devices.

“Federal law enforcement deserves our thanks for stopping a potential terrorist attack during the busy holiday season,” said Attorney General Sessions. “The Department of Justice will continue to take every lawful step we can to disrupt plots and to protect our nation from foreign and domestic threats, including the dangerous threat posed by radical Islamic terrorism.”

“Our office is committed to investigating potential terrorist threats and working with our law enforcement partners to prevent those threats from being carried out,” said U.S. Attorney Scott. “I am grateful to the FBI for their vigilance and commitment to keeping our communities safe.”

The indictment alleges that, on Dec. 16, 2017, Jameson tried to learn how to build pipe bombs out of PVC pipe, gunpowder, nails and BBs, asked for remote timing devices from an undercover FBI agent, and described how to use such destructive devices in an attack on Pier 39 in San Francisco, California to funnel people into an area in order to shoot them.

A book named “Secrets of the Secret Service: The History and Uncertain Future of the U.S. Secret Service”, by former United States Secret Service Uniformed Division officer Gary Byrne, well-known for his testimony during the proceedings that eventually led to then President Clinton’s impeachment for perjury, claims that Bill Clinton would order his protectors to ferry him around Washington in an innocuous motorcade so he could meet up with with his mistresses.
Unfortunately for the protection detail, on one occasion a Secret Service agent, referred to as “Reverend” in the book, suffered a traumatic brain injury trying to keep up with the motorcade when another car T-boned his in an intersection.

Byrne wrote that Reverend, along with two others, were severely injured. DC police allegedly tended to the accident, having no idea that Clinton was being chauffeured around Washington incognito.
