“President Trump will award the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Friday to seven recipients, including a trio of former professional athletes. It is fair to say this year’s recipients have done just that,” according to Tom Joyce reporting for the Washington Examiner. CNN has been a frequent target of Trump’s furor against media outlets, which he calls “fake news” and “the enemy of the people” had a winning day in court when a federal judge in Washington ordered the Trump’s administration to immediately return the White House credential for CNN’s Jim Acosta.

“I want to thank all of my colleagues in the press who supported us this week,” Acosta said outside of the federal courthouse shortly after U.S. District Court Judge Timothy Kelly issued his decision. “Let’s get back to work.” CNN is suing on the basis that Acosta’s constitutional rights were allegedly violated by the White House when it suspended his credential indefinitely. At issue in CNN’s suit are the First and Fifth Amendments of the U.S. Constitution, which guarantee a free press and due process respectively. The Trump administration has argued it has “broad discretion” in granting White House access to journalists covering the president as it sought to justify the removal of Acosta’s credential following a heated exchange with Trump.

4…………> The Caravan vs. US Law: Trouble Ahead

Around 2,000 migrants that are part of a more massive 7,000-strong caravan have reached the region of the Mexican city of Tijuana bordering the U.S., exceeding its capacity to host only 700 people and forcing the authorities to open a stadium and a sports complex for the use. The migrants are expected to wait at the border for days as U.S. officials can handle around 100 migrant applications daily, with about 2300 children among the migrant’s crowd. U.S. President Donald Trump has been very vocal about the caravan, calling it an “invasion” and saying the military will meet it.

“Many Gang Members and some evil people are mixed into the Caravan heading to our Southern Border. Please go back. You will not be admitted into the United States unless you go through the legal process. This is an invasion of our Country, and our Military is waiting for you!” he tweeted.

The caravan is comprised of around 3,500 people as it draws near the U.S. border. While beginning in Honduras, it reached a peak of 7,000 people as many from other Central American nations joined in the 1,553-mile (2,500-kilometer) journey to reach the U.S. by foot. The caravan mostly consists of Hondurans who are fleeing from violence and poverty in their home country. On Monday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced they would be closing multiple lanes at their ports of entry in anticipation of the migrant caravans.

Illegal migrants entering through the southern US border will no longer be eligible for asylum under a new rule announced by the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security, that would stop granting it for those who breach any presidential restriction on entry.

The president can stop migration in the “national interest”, as he had frequently attacking a caravan of thousands of Central Americans making their way north through Mexico, ordering troops to the border and declared the migrants to be an “invasion”.

Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker and Homeland Security chief Kirstjen Nielsen announced what is known as the Interim Final Rule saying presidents have the power to “suspend the entry of all aliens” and to impose “any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate on them” if they are judged to be “detrimental” to US interests under the Immigration and Nationality Act.

A mass shooting in the city of Thousand Oaks in Southern California, left 13 people dead including an officer and a gunman, and at least 11 injured, with the gunman identified as 28-year-old Ian David Long, a former Marine, according to Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean.

Dean said his department had several contacts with Long over the years, including a call to his home in April when it was believed he may have been suffering from poor mental health. “We believe he shot himself,” Dean said.

The former CEO of Citrades pleaded guilty today for his role in a scheme to defraud investors out of $8.3 million in the United States and across the world in financial instruments known as “binary options.”

Citrades was a purported internet-based investment platform. Jason Benjamin Scharf, 37, of Los Angeles, California, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud before U.S. District Judge George H. Wu of the Central District of California, with sentencing has been scheduled for Feb. 25, 2019, before Judge Wu.

As part of his guilty plea, Scharf admitted that from February 2013 through December 2015, he oversaw the day-to-day operations of Citrades as the company’s CEO, and that he agreed with his co-conspirators to induce investors to purchase binary options based on materially misleading misrepresentations and omissions. As described in the plea agreement, a binary option is a type of option contract in which the payout depends on the outcome of a discrete event, typically related to whether the price of a particular asset—such as a stock or a commodity—will rise above or fall below a specified amount.

Scharf admitted that Citrades operated its binary options business principally out of Israel, but had representatives and co-conspirators working on its behalf in the United States.
