1…………> Elders Abuse: India Call Center 

Twenty-one members of a massive India-based fraud and money laundering conspiracy that defrauded thousands of U.S. residents of hundreds of millions of dollars were sentenced this week to terms of imprisonment up to 20 years. Three other conspirators were sentenced earlier this year for laundering proceeds for the conspiracy, which was operated out of India-based call centers that targeted U.S. residents in various telephone fraud schemes. This week’s sentencing hearings took place in Houston, Texas, before the Honorable David Hittner of the Southern District of Texas. 

“The stiff sentences imposed this week represent the culmination of the first-ever large-scale, multi-jurisdiction prosecution targeting the India call center scam industry,” said Attorney General Sessions. “This case represents one of the most significant victories to date in our continuing efforts to combat elder fraud and the victimization of the most vulnerable members of the U.S. public. The transnational criminal ring of fraudsters and money launderers who conspired to bilk older Americans, legal immigrants and many others out of their life savings through their lies, threats and financial schemes must recognize that all resources at the Department’s disposal will be deployed to shut down these telefraud schemes, put those responsible in jail, and bring a measure of justice to the victims.” 
Miteshkumar Patel, 42, of Illinois, was sentenced to serve 240 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release on the charge of money laundering conspiracy. According to the factual basis of his plea agreement, Patel served as the manager of a Chicago-based crew of “runners” that liquidated and laundered fraud proceeds generated by callers at India-based call centers. Those callers used call scripts and lead lists to target victims throughout the United States with telefraud schemes in which the callers impersonated U.S. government employees from the IRS and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The callers duped victims into believing that they owed money to the U.S. government and would be arrested or deported if they did not pay immediately. After the victims transferred money to the callers, a network of U.S.-based runners moved expeditiously to liquidate and launder fraud proceeds through the use of anonymous stored value cards. In addition to recruiting, training, and tasking runners in his crew, Patel also coordinated directly with the Indian side of the conspiracy about the operation of the scheme. Patel was held accountable for laundering between $9.5 and $25 million for the scheme.

Frequent use of mobile phones can lead to deterioration of performance in specific brain regions named figural memory, or the ability to remember abstract forms when the brain is often exposed to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF), according to the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH).


Researchers collected data from more than 700 teenagers from German-speaking Switzerland over 12 months, uncovering evidence that radiation has had a significant impact on the right half of the brain, where the figural memory is located, among adolescents who hold the phone to their right ear when making a call. Sending text messages or surfing the internet has had no noticeable impact, according to the study.

The Battle of Prokhorovka was a titanic clash, and one of the decisive battles of the Second World War that denied the Nazis the strategic initiative on the Eastern Front, being the beginning of the end to Adolf Hitlers 3rd Reich.

We have to wait and see if new Fed chair Powell will attempt to destroy Eurasian block by sending gold prices below 1000, despite the fact both Russia and China have been buying their whole gold production in local gold backed currency instead of money printing machines. In other words, US has lost controls of the precious metals complex, and with Trump’s infrastructure and tax cut campaign the National debt will soon be at, or over 30 trillion dollars, since D.C. swamp alligators have no intention dropping their pet projects. “The United States will use every available law enforcement tool to combat terrorism,” said Acting Associate Attorney General Jesse Panuccio.

“Those who are naturalized in the United States swear to support and defend our Constitution and laws against all enemies. Those who have actively supported terrorism and concealed that fact cannot take that oath in good faith and should not have the benefit of continued citizenship. Civil denaturalization is thus one important tool in our anti-terrorism efforts. We will continue to zealously seek out and prosecute individuals like Mr. Ahmed.”

Khaleel Ahmed, 37, a native of India, was convicted pursuant to a guilty plea in 2009 of providing material support to terrorists through his efforts to travel abroad in order to murder or maim U.S. military forces in Iraq or Afghanistan, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2339A. As admitted in his criminal proceedings, between 2004 and 2007, Ahmed and his cousin, Zubair Ahmed, made preparations to travel abroad, and did, in fact, travel to Cairo, Egypt, with the intent of engaging in acts that would result in the murder or maiming of U.S. military forces. Upon returning from Cairo, the cousins discussed, sought, and received instruction on the use of firearms, including sniper rifles, and in counter-surveillance techniques. They also collected and distributed videos of attacks on U.S. military forces overseas, manuals on military tactics, and military manuals on weaponry. In 2009, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio accepted the cousins’ guilty pleas, and in 2010 sentenced Khaleel Ahmed to eight years and four months in prison and three years of supervised release.

Germany’s second-largest film festival is exploding with great movies, starting with “Happy as Lazzaro”,  Lucrecia Martel’s movie ‘Zama’, and most importantly the TV series including a “Das Boot” sequel of Wolfgang Petersen movie drama about the life aboard a U-boat during the closing days of WW2.

Munich is a film festival that fills the vacuum left from the usual American blockbuster movies, as it relies on films from countries whose cinematic works are otherwise hard to find in everyday program life.

4…………> Inspector Novichok Strikes Again: UK

Here we go again with the gruesome fantasy of square-jawed, steel blue-eyed  Russian GRU hitmen lurking in the UK for their next victims, as a man and woman are found unconscious in Wiltshire poisoned by Novichok,  the same nerve agent that poisoned ex-Russian spy Sergei Skripal, according to the latest police report.


The couple, identified as Charlie Rowley and Dawn Sturgess, is in a critical condition having been found unconscious at a house on Saturday.

Police say no one else has presented with the same symptoms.

There was “nothing in their background” to suggest the pair were targeted, the Met Police said.

There are two possible explanations for this outrage:

1. The government of President Putin has descended into an outright, old-fashioned thuggery intended to bring horror to the citizens of a nuclear-armed country, which is highly unlikely considering the long tradition of the Soviet secret police to hit its enemies stealthily and deadly, a practice introduced by its founding father Felix Edmundovitch Dzerginsky in the 1930’s murders of dissidents.

2. Or an even worst alternative, a terrorist or an Islamo-Fascist mule-head with access to nearby Porton Down biological and chemical warfare facility has laid his hands on the deadly pathogen, and it is using it to settle a score with Russia by trying to kill UK citizens and then blame it on Putin.

In any case, the person involved better be dressed in a tank embedded in a submarine, because when MI5 or FSB get their long fingers on him, he will need every bit of scripture money can buy.

“President Donald J. Trump believes in total energy independence and dominance, and that keeping America’s energy grid and infrastructure strong and secure protects our national security, public safety, and economy from intentional attacks and natural disasters,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement Friday.“Unfortunately, impending retirements of fuel-secure power facilities are leading to a rapid depletion of a critical part of our Nation’s energy mix and impacting the resilience of our power grid.”

 
“President Trump has directed Secretary of Energy Rick Perry to prepare immediate steps to stop the loss of these resources and looks forward to his recommendations,” Sanders added.

 
The move would be unprecedented because the plants in question are at risk of closing down due to increased competition from abundant natural gas and renewable energy sources. The policy would coerce the owners of power grids across the nation to purchase electricity from coal and nuclear plants.

“We have reports of 16 people dead due to the storm which started on Friday evening. The casualties are from various districts of the state. The Moradabad district reported the highest number of deaths — seven.” T.P. Gupta, an official at the State’s Relief Commissioner Office in Lucknow, told Anadolu Agency.

Mahesh Palawat, the head of private weather agency Skymet, told Anadolu News agency that the intensity of Friday’s dust storm was “severe” in some places. “In most places, there is no prediction of any similar dust storm in the days ahead,” he said.

He said at least 12 people were also injured in the storm.

Local media reported that most of the deaths in the state were due to houses collapsing and trees falling.

A  bronze coin minted during the reign of Egypt’s Pharaon Ptolemy IV, who ruled the country between 221 and 204BC, was found more than two millennia later in 1912 Australia, buried a few inches underground in the depths of the far north Queensland rainforest by a man named Andrew Henderson, who had abandoned the gold mining fields of Victoria for a warmer climate.

“Henderson got a block of land in the scrub and he became a settler,” far north Queensland historian, Dave Phoenix said.

“One day in 1912 he was building a fence line and as he was digging a hole for a fence post his shovel hit something metallic.

“He reached into the hole and pulled out this coin.”

Henderson paid little attention to the coin at the time; when he returned home, he put it in a drawer and all but forgot about it for the next 40 years.

 
Among the most probable of theories is that the coin dropped out of a miner’s pack as they walked along the Aboriginal trail on the way to the Hodgkinson goldfields west of Cairns.

UN report on the persistence of extreme poverty in the US concludes that is a political choice made by people in power, and also criticizes the government policy for making healthcare a privilege rather than a right. Poverty in the United States is widespread and worsening under President Donald Trump, according to a human rights investigator for the United Nations.

Philip Alston, the UN special investigator on extreme poverty, said the Trump administration appears determined to pull the social safety net out from under millions of poor people while rewarding the wealthy with tax cuts.

In his report, Alston called on the US to address the underlying problems facing the underclass rather than “punishing and imprisoning the poor.”

 
He noted that welfare benefits are being slashed and access to health care has become more difficult during Trump’s presidency. This, in conjunction with “financial windfalls” for the super-rich and big corporations,  has significantly widened the inequality gap.

Since President Lyndon Johnson’s war on poverty in the 1960s US social policy towards the poor has been “neglectful at best,” Alston said.

“But the policies pursued over the past year seem deliberately designed to remove basic protections from the poorest, punish those who are not in employment and make even basic health care into a privilege to be earned rather than a right of citizenship,” he said.

In a country of about 325 million people, nearly 41 million live in poverty — including 18.5 million in extreme poverty. Alston said children accounted for 33 percent of the poor. No other industrialized country had so many children mired in poverty, he said.

The data used to compile the UN report only covers the period through 2016, so there are no comparative figures that could measure poverty levels before and after Trump took office in January.

Vicente Adolfo Solano, 53, a citizen of Honduras residing in Miami, was sentenced to 210 months in prison, to be followed by a lifetime of supervised release, for attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), a designated foreign terrorist organization, after planning to detonate an explosive device at a Miami mall.  Solano pleaded guilty on March 14.

 
Solano told an individual, who later became a Confidential Human Source (CHS) for the government, that he was upset with the United States and wanted to conduct an attack in Miami.  Later, Solano told this CHS that he wanted to join ISIS.

Solano planned to place and detonate an explosive device in a crowded area of a popular Miami mall.  Solano discussed his plot with the CHS and two undercover FBI employees.  According to the complaint, Solano provided three videos to the CHS, in which Solano makes pro-ISIS statements and expresses anti-U.S. sentiments.  Just prior to his arrest, Solano took possession of what he believed was an explosive device, took steps to arm it, and walked toward a mall entrance in order to carry out his attack.  Unbeknownst to Solano, the device was inert and did not pose a risk to the public.  Solano was taken into custody prior to entering the Mall.
