WASHINGTON – The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the conclusion to a week-long targeted enforcement operation that resulted in the apprehension of over 125 at-large aliens across the state of California, where sanctuary policies have largely prohibited the cooperation of law enforcement agencies in the arrest of criminal aliens.
The ICE enforcement actions, which took place Sept. 28 to Oct 2, targeted aliens subject to removal who were arrested for crimes but were released by state or local law enforcement agencies, despite having active immigration detainers in place. Over 95% percent of those aliens arrested, had criminal convictions or pending criminal charges at the time of arrest.

Russia said on Monday it had built new barracks for troops on a disputed chain of islands near Japan and would build more facilities for armored vehicles, prompting a diplomatic protest from Tokyo, as Russia’s Ministry of Defense said it planned to shift troops next week into four housing complexes on two of the four disputed islands, known as the Southern Kurils in Russia and the Northern Territories in Japan.
The news came after the Kremlin said Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe might visit Russia on January 21 as part of efforts to defuse the territorial dispute that has prevented them from signing a World War II peace treaty.
Soviet forces seized the four islands at the end of World War II, and both Russia and Japan both claim sovereignty over them, with Russia’s Defence Ministry said troops and their families will move to the island December 25.
Japan’s defence ministry says 3,500 Russian troops are deployed on the two larger islands as part of a military build-up.
“All people should be able to live their lives freely and without fear of violence or aggressive acts of intimidation, and the Department of Justice is committed to prosecuting anyone who harms someone because of their actual or perceived religion and lies to law enforcement to cover up the crime,” said Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband, as Izmir Koch, 33, of Huber Heights, Ohio, was convicted in US court District Court for assaulting a man because he believed the man was Jewish in violation of the Hate Crimes Prevention Act, and of lying to the FBI about his role in the religiously motivated assault on Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr.
Koch falsely told the FBI he was not involved in the fight and he had not said anything disparaging about Jews.
Before and during the assault, the defendant was heard shouting, “I want to kill all of the Jews” and “I want to stab the Jews”.
President Trump has dubbed in a Twitter post alleged Russia’s meddling ‘a hoax’ that ruined reputations of many people, adding the entire ‘Russian Witch Hunt’ had to be stopped immediately, with Trump’s statement coming amid Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into alleged Russian interference in the US presidential campaign along with another probe carried out by the US Congress.

Investigators are searching coast to coast for the bomber and mysterious motives behind the bizarre mail-bomb plot aimed at critics of US President Donald Trump, as the bomb squad is examining a mail distribution center near Miami New York officials say they are still treating the packages as “live devices.”
Tape on the pipes could give clues to help guide investigators who are also analyzing the design of the crude devices that were sent through the mail, to try to work out whether they were intended to detonate or sow fear two weeks before US mid-term elections.
Law enforcement experts said the devices were not rigged like booby-trapped package bombs that would explode upon opening, with many right-wing commentators and supporters of Mr. Trump have already suggested that the pipe bombs were part of a “false flag” operation by the left to indicate that Republicans have become violent as a result of Mr. Trump’s rhetoric. On his radio show, prominent conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh told his listeners that “Republicans just don’t do this kind of thing,” suggesting that a Democrat supporter would be a more likely culprit.

President Trump has ordered the Defense Department to cut its budget by $33 billion, the Pentagon’s deputy secretary Patrick Shanahan said that the instruction to cut the budget by 4.5 percent so far into the year had forced the Pentagon to effectively create two separate budgets for the 2020 fiscal year, which begins next October.
“So we are not going to reverse course on all of that planning, but we will build two budgets,” Shanahan said while speaking to the Military Reporters and Editors Association.
“We are building two budgets concurrently, but it will give the secretary a clear understanding of what the tradeoffs are. And we’ll go back, and we will do as directed by the president and give him a $700 billion budget and then everybody gets to decide how to work with that.”
President Trump said in remarks outside the White House Friday that while the man charged with mailing more than a dozen pipe bombs to high-profile critics of his was one of his supporters, Trump himself bears “no blame” for the bomber’s actions.
On his way to a political rally in North Carolina, the president also said he would not contact former US President Barack Obama or any of the other people targeted by the bomber, who is accused of mailing 13 bombs, almost all to various political figures, across the US earlier this week.
