ICE announced that it made more than 2,000 arrests during a six-week nationwide operation in July and August that focused on those with criminal convictions and charges, but also led to the arrests of some undocumented immigrants with clean records.

As part of the operation, ICE agents made “at-large” arrests, which could take place at residences, worksites and traffic stops, across the country, including in large metropolitan areas like Los Angeles, where the ICE field office apprehended the most immigrants. ICE said the operation targeted undocumented immigrants and others subject to deportation who had been charged or convicted of a crime involving a victim.

“The defendant made violent threats against high school students, religious leaders, and school officials based solely on her disagreement with a private school’s application of religious doctrine,” said Eric Drieband, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division, after DOJ announced that Sonia Tabizada, age 36, of San Jacinto, California, pleaded guilty in federal court to intentionally obstructing persons in the enjoyment of their free exercise of religious beliefs by threatening to bomb the Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School in Washington, D.C., in violation of Title 18, U.S. Code, Section 247. 

“Tolerance and religious freedom are cornerstone values in our society and the Department of Justice will continue to vigorously prosecute violent threats motivated by bias.”

Elections in the US state of Georgia that will decide control of the Senate are too close to call as polling ends, but recent sample indicates that GOP lost the state as Republicans Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue currently hold Georgia’s two Senate seats. M.s Loeffler is taking on Reverend Raphael Warnock and Mr. Perdue is battling former journalist Jon Ossoff.

The GOP currently hold 52 of the 100 seats, hence if both Democrats win the elections, the Senate will be evenly split, allowing incoming Democratic Vice-President Kamala Harris the tie-breaking vote, a crucial development for pushing through Mr. Biden’s agenda, including on key issues such as healthcare and environmental regulations – policy areas strongly contended by Republicans.

An outrageous directive that comes as officials say the region could soon hit over 1,000 COVID19-related deaths per day, and hospitals are overrun with patients, is directing ambulance workers in Los Angeles County, California, not to transport hospital patients that have extremely low chances of survival, and in addition to ration oxygen, which is in short supply due to the pandemic.

Hospital beds in LA are running low and officials fear a post-holiday spike, as the LA County Department of Public Health reported 9,142 new COVID19 cases, and an additional 77 deaths. The county, which is the worst hit in the US, has recorded 818,000 coronavirus cases and more than 10,700 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
