A former Davidson County, Tennessee judge Cason “Casey” Moreland, 61, of Smyrna, Tennessee, was sentenced to 44 months in prison, restitution of $18,000 and a forfeiture of $13,500 for obstruction of justice, witness tampering, and stealing money from an organization receiving federal funds.

According to admissions made in connection with Moreland’s plea agreement, in January 2017, the FBI began investigating whether Moreland solicited sexual favors in exchange for favorable judicial treatment while sitting as a General Sessions Court Judge in Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee. Moreland admitted that in February 2017, he became aware that he was a target of an investigation and took steps to try to obstruct it.

Specifically, he devised a scheme to pay a material witness to sign a false affidavit recanting her previous statements, which implicated his criminal conduct in trading judicial favors for sex. He also devised a scheme to have drugs planted in the witness’s car, and then to have her stopped by police so that she would be arrested and her credibility would be destroyed.

Fentanyl, which also goes by the street names “China Girl” or “China White” is a powerful synthetic opioid, roughly 100 times more potent than morphine and 50 times stronger than heroin.

“We don’t have great potential (in oil), we are very realistic. Our potential is gas,” Qatar’s Energy Minister Saad al-Kaabi said explained the decision fo his country for pulling out of the Opec oil producers’ cartel, just days before the group meets in Vienna.

The Gulf state, which joined Opec in 1961, said it would leave the cartel in January and would focus on gas production. Qatar, the world’s biggest exporter of liquefied natural gas, has been boycotted by some Arab neighbors over allegations that it funds terrorism.

Opec is expected to cut oil supply at this week’s meeting.

As US Border Patrol helicopters flew overhead, agents closed its busiest border crossing with Mexico after police broke up a protest of migrants in Tijuana, scattering demonstrators toward the border where US agents hurled tear gas canisters. Several hundred migrants pushed past blockade of Mexican police near the crossing, with children screaming and coughing when migrants opened a small hole in concertina wire at a gap on the Mexican side of a levee, at which point US agents fired tear gas at them.

“We ran, but when you run the gas asphyxiates you more,” she told the AP while cradling her three-year-old daughter Valery in her arms.

Mexico’s Milenio TV also showed images of several migrants at the border trying to jump over the fence.

She campaigned on a platform of housing affordability, healthcare, free public tertiary education and other policies which would improve the lives of people with low socioeconomic status, at the same time revealing she would not be able to afford an apartment in Washington — one of the most expensive cities in the USA.

A juicy target for conservative media, commentators on a Fox News segment, mocked her inability to pay rent in Washington as a “great political line” and saying she had worn “multi-thousand-dollar outfits” in photo shoots “that could pay rent in Washington,” but they were designer clothes she claimed had been loaned.

Washington Examiner shared a photo taken from of Ms. Ocasio-Cortez which repeated this theme, saying her “jacket and coat don’t look like a girl who struggles.”

Aside from being called a “girl,” the 29-year-old complained about her own Twitter account that she was being given unsolicited directions to the “spouse and intern events instead of the ones for members of Congress.”

In another Twitter attack, she was accused by a Daily Mail political correspondent of “angling for more vacation days” when she suggested that Americans should be given a public holiday on election days.
