Despite still being a dominant currency across the globe, the share of the US dollar held worldwide by the government, central banks, and other financial institutions as foreign exchange reserves has reached its lowest level in the last 25 years – 59 percent – during the fourth quarter of the financial year 2020, as  the Official Foreign Exchange Reserve (COFER) survey has found that the US dollar has declined mostly due to increasing competition from other currencies used by central banks for international transactions.

The Chinese government has stepped up efforts to challenge the dominance of the US dollar as a global reserve currency since 2016 when the International Monetary Fund added the yuan/renminbi to its Special Drawing Rights basket.

HAVANA (Sputnik) – Cuban banking and financial institutions will not accept cash deposits in US dollars from 21 June due to US sanctions, the Central Bank of Cuba (BCC) said:

“Given the obstacles imposed by the US economic blockade for the Cuban banking system to depositing abroad cash in US dollars collected in the country, the decision has been made to temporarily stop the acceptance of bills in that currency by the Cuban banking and finance system”, as quoted by the state Mesa Redonda news outlet.
According to the statement, the measure will not affect operations involving transfers or cash deposits of other freely convertible currencies accepted in Cuba.

Russian fighter jets attacked west of Idlib and north of Hama, bombing civilian residential areas in Jisr al-Shughur City; areas of Basanqul, Ghani, Innab, Sirmaniyah, west of Idlib; Zayzun area, north of Hama; as well as the Assad’s opposition’s frontlines.

Twenty attacks were carried out by three Russian warplanes, which took off from Hmeimim airbase. The attacks are continuing, with the number of casualties still unknown, and despite a stern warning by President  Trump.

He tweeted:

“President Bashar al-Assad of Syria must not recklessly attack Idlib Province. The Russians and Iranians would be making a grave humanitarian mistake to take part in this potential human tragedy. Hundreds of thousands of people could be killed. Don’t let that happen!”

Responding to Trump’s tweet, Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said it was “necessary to deal with the problem” in Idlib.

“The situation in Idlib continues to be a topic of special concern in Moscow, Damascus, Ankara, and Tehran.” He said terrorists in the region were sending drones to Russian military bases posing “a significant threat”, he added.

Due to the relentless US sanctions levied on countries around the world, and corresponding unwillingness to hold US dollar nominated securities due to fears of Forex market interventions, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), a major member of the BRICK Block purchased 8.46 metric tons of gold during the last fiscal year (April 2017 to March 2018).

In its annual report, the RBI revealed that it had 566.23 metric tons of gold as of June 30, 2018, compared to 557.77 metric tons in June 30, 2017, indicating that the bank had purchased gold for the first time since 2009 when it had acquired 200 metric tons of the precious metal following America’s sub-prime crisis.

“Diversification of India’s Foreign Currency Assets continued during the year [2017-18] with attention being ascribed to risk management, including cybersecurity risk. The gold portfolio has also been activated,” the report added.

33 individuals were charged Thursday following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) into a scheme to illegally bring into the United States millions of dollars of Chinese-manufactured goods by smuggling them through ports of entry on the East and West Coasts. One defendant is also charged with unlawful procurement of naturalization.

The charges include conspiracy to traffic, and trafficking, in counterfeit goods; conspiracy to smuggle, and smuggling, fake products into the United States; money laundering conspiracy; immigration fraud and unlawful procurement of naturalization.

Also, the government restrained nine real properties in Queens, Staten Island, and Brooklyn, New York belonging to the defendants.

“This investigation exposed the global nature of intellectual property crimes, allegedly being executed by those arrested today. Counterfeit goods manufactured and smuggled from China with a suggested value close to half a billion dollars, were intended to make its way into U.S. markets and the hands of unsuspecting consumers,” said HSI Special Agent-in-Charge Melendez.

“This investigation should be a crystal clear message that counterfeiting and intellectual property rights violations are anything but a victimless crime as it harms legitimate businesses, consumers, and governments.”

According to the court filings, the defendants played various roles in the trafficking of counterfeit goods manufactured in China, brought by ocean-going ships to the United States in 40-foot shipping containers, smuggled through ports of entry disguised as legitimate imports and distributed throughout the country. The counterfeit goods included items such as fake Louis Vuitton and Tory Burch handbags, Michael Kors wallets, Hermes belts and Chanel perfume.

Marlon Hicks, 31, of Crown Point, Indiana, was sentenced to 15 years in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, for distributing information regarding the manufacture and use of explosives, with the intent that the information is used for and in furtherance of a crime of violence.

“The Department of Justice is committed to investigating and prosecuting terrorist threats against our homeland,” said Assistant Attorney General Demers.

“The defendant plotted to conduct an attack on U.S. soil and, with today’s sentence, he is being held accountable for his actions. I applaud the efforts of the agents and prosecutors to achieve this successful outcome. Their work will ensure that the actions of the defendant, inspired by an evil, will serve only as a cautionary tale for other would-be terrorists.”

According to the documents, in this case, Hicks rapidly transformed from a vocal online supporter of the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), a designated foreign terrorist organization, to someone planning a terrorist act.

President Trump has accused China of manipulating its currency to combat US tariffs, an accusation resembling claims Mr. Trump made during his 2016 campaign as the two countries prepare to meet in Washington to discuss the ongoing trade fight. In July, the two countries imposed the first round of tit-for-tat tariffs, on trade worth $34bn, with plans on the drawing board to impose import duties on a further $16bn .

The administration is also preparing additional tariffs on $200bn worth of Chinese goods, which are the subject of hearings in Washington this week.

“I think China’s manipulating their currency, absolutely,” Mr. Trump told Reuters.

Mr. Trump has criticized the higher cost of borrowing, fearing that will slow the economy.

“I’m not thrilled with [Fed] raising of interest rates, no. I’m not thrilled,” he said, repeating a criticism which he has made before.

Gold up to 1200.1 and USD/CHF down 0.99 due to President Trump setting tariffs on Chinese products. Translation? As the dollar goes down, we have to wait and see if the new Fed Chair Jerome Powell will continue pressuring gold and the Eurasian block with it down below $1000/oz in an economic WW3. Watch sell stop at 25,550.
We have to wait and see if new Fed chair Powell will attempt to destroy Eurasian block by sending gold prices below 1000, despite the fact both Russia and China have been buying their whole gold production in local gold backed currency instead of money printing machines.

In other words, US has lost controls of the precious metals complex, and with Trump’s infrastructure and tax cut campaign the National debt will soon be at, or over 30 trillion dollars, since D.C. swamp alligators have no intention dropping their pet projects.
