As Health Minister Jens Spahn cautioned that “we are still in the middle of a pandemic,” despite declining case numbers , vaccination progress, and despite Germany lowers coronavirus risk level, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) for infectious diseases reduced country’s coronavirus risk status from “very high” to “high” this week:

“The situation is getting better, we are getting noticeably better,” Germany’s Health Minister Jens Spahn said at a press conference together with RKI chief Lothar Wieler in the capital Berlin.

Germany’s risk status was reduced as the country’s nationwide seven-day incidence remained at just over 35 cases per 100,000 people per week.

Rivers around the biggest city in Brazil’s Amazon rainforest swelled to levels unseen in over a century of record-keeping, according to data published by Manaus’ port authorities, the flooding  caused by the La Nina weather event that has seen much higher than normal rainfall, as climate change is thought to be the major factor in how intense and how frequent extreme weather events occur.
The flooding has swept through communities, leaving thousands homeless and without work, and the Rio Negro was at its highest level since records began in 1902, with a depth of 29.98 meters at the port’s measuring station.

Higher-than-usual rain is associated with the La Nina phenomenon, when currents in the central and eastern Pacific Ocean affect global climate patterns.

Australia’s Acting Chief Medical Officer Michael Kidd has confirmed authorities are investigating a “probable” case of a rare clotting disorder in an Australian man who received the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Professor Kidd said the matter was being taken “very seriously” and was being investigated by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).

The TGA’s vaccine safety investigation group will meet on Saturday and will seek to determine whether the disorder is linked to the AstraZeneca vaccine. 

The blood clots were recorded in a 44-year-old man who is now being treated in Melbourne’s Box Hill Hospital.

The man received the AstraZeneca vaccine on or around March 22 and was admitted to hospital with serious thrombosis and a low platelet count.

“He had low platelets, but he had clots in his liver, in his spleen and in his gut in general,” Coronacast host Dr. Norman Swan told ABC News.

“So, he fits the description of vaccine-induced pro-thrombotic thrombocytopenia. He fits the case description.”

Officers and undercover detectives placed ads on websites commonly sought out by individuals seeking to engage in illegal sex acts. The suspects solicited and/or brokered deals for various sex acts with children, and were subsequently arrested and charged with crimes ranging from money laundering and luring to attempted sex conduct with a minor and child sex trafficking.

HSI Phoenix and the Mesa Police Department routinely join forces to conduct enforcement actions in a continuous effort to reduce the demand that fuels child and human sex trafficking from our community, and the suspects arrested in this operation ranged in age from 21 to 56 years.
