ICE and its Orange County Law enforcement partners arrested six residents charged in an indictment alleging three defendants conspired to traffic more than two dozen firearms – including 12-gauge shotguns and AR-style rifles – while other defendants, including a convicted sex offender, illegally possessed firearms and ammunition.

Over the course of the six-week investigation, law enforcement seized a total of 68 firearms – 30 of which were “ghost guns” or firearms that bore no serial numbers – more than 2,000 rounds of ammunition.

The 11-count indictment, unsealed today, charges seven defendants with multiple federal felonies, including conspiracy to sell firearm without license.

Sixteen members and associates of a prison-based gang were charged after a long-running investigation into drug trafficking and murders inside and outside of California’s prisons, and according to a criminal complaint unsealed, nine defendants have been arrested on federal racketeering and other charges for extensive, organized criminal activity while incarcerated in California’s most secure prisons. 

The allegations include murders, drug trafficking and other violent crimes. 

According to court documents, between 2011 and 2016, Aryan Brotherhood (AB) members and associates engaged in racketeering activity, committing multiple acts involving murder and drug trafficking offenses.  Yandell and Sylvester oversaw a significant heroin and methamphetamine trafficking operation from their shared cell.  They used smuggled-in cellphones to direct their drug trafficking activity from their cell to the streets of Sacramento and other California cities. Using a contraband cellphone, Yandell and Sylvester communicated with AB members and associates to direct drug trafficking activities, membership in the AB, order murders, and oversee other criminal activities.
