Friday’s announcement came as Italy confirmed 40,902 new infections – its highest ever daily total, it passed the one million mark earlier this week and there have been more than 44,000 deaths.
The government’s coronavirus consultant, Walter Ricciardi, told reporters that the country has “two to three weeks to decide whether to impose a new national lockdown”.

President Trump told the same news conference that he would not put the US into lockdown:
“Lockdowns cost lives and they cost a lot of problems. The cure cannot be…. worse than the problem itself and I’ve said it many times,” he said.

The United States filed suit to halt the sale by a New Jersey entity of an unapproved “nano silver” product previously touted as a COVID-19 treatment, the Department of Justice announced today.
In a civil complaint for permanent injunction filed November 13, 2020 in U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the United States alleged that Natural Solutions Foundation, Dr. Rima Laibow, and Ralph Fucetola sold and distributed a nano silver product that the defendants claim will cure, mitigate, treat, or prevent COVID-19.  Defendants’ nano silver product purportedly contains silver particles in a solution.  According to the government’s complaint, nano silver is not generally recognized as safe and effective by qualified experts for the use promoted by the defendants.
“The Department of Justice will not allow individuals to take advantage of the ongoing public health emergency by peddling unproven, unapproved drugs,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Jeffrey Bossert Clark of the Justice Department’s Civil Division.
“We will continue to work closely with the Food and Drug Administration to halt the illegal sale of such products during this pandemic.”
“FDA will not hesitate to take strong action to enforce the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act and protect the public from the unlawful distribution of products that have not been shown to be safe and effective in treating or preventing COVID-19,” said FDA Chief Counsel Stacy Amin. “Distributors of such products—especially those such as the defendants in this case, who have a history of violating the Act and, despite warning, failed to take prompt voluntary action to sufficiently correct their conduct—place unsuspecting American consumers at risk by offering their unproven products to treat serious diseases like COVID-19.”

 The actual effectiveness of Russian vaccines against COVID-19 is more than 90 percent, according to Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko, who pointed out that not everyone has the same level of the immune response, and time must pass to assess the effectiveness of vaccines, depending on if it is a double application, when the number of vaccines re-vaccination is done after three weeks, and for others after two weeks.

“After three weeks, immunity is formed, well, according to today’s data. We see that more than 90 percent effectiveness, and not every person forms the same level of immune response. It depends not only on the vaccine itself, but also on the patient, how immune the system reacts to the drug. And in many countries the effectiveness and the possibility of using it is estimated at a level of 50 percent and above,” Murashko told the Rossiya 24 broadcaster.

The minister added that the vaccines registered in Russia provided a sufficient level of protection, but it must be remembered that there are diseases with which a person lives also affect the vaccine’s effectiveness.

President Trump has lost the US presidential election, and on January 20, 2021, there will be a Democratic president in the White House, with experts saying that the recounts are not going to make a difference and that the legal challenges are baseless, since Trump is refusing to recognize his loss, and so are several of his high-level Republican friends.
“President Trump is 100% within his rights to look into allegations of irregularities and weigh his legal options,” said Republican Mitch McConnell, the Senate Majority leader, in a speech on the Senate floor.

“There will be a smooth transition to a second Trump administration,” Pompeo said with a laugh.

In his bid for a second term, Mr. Trump lost to former-Vice President Joe Biden in the November 3 poll but has repeatedly and baselessly alleged voter fraud, so far has refused to concede the election, as is tradition of the losing candidate, and in a tweet said:
“This Election was Rigged.” Twitter labeled the tweet “disputed” as there is no evidence of fraud in the US presidential election.

The win solidifies Mr. Biden’s victory, giving him a total of 306 votes in the electoral college – the system the US uses to choose its president, as Georgia and North Carolina are the last states to be decided, and Donald Trump is projected to win in North Carolina, giving him 232 electoral votes.
But he still refuses to concede, and a manual recount is to be carried out in Georgia because of the narrow margin between the two candidates, but the Biden team said they did not expect it to change the results there.
Mr. Trump’s team dropped a lawsuit in Arizona on Friday after it became clear his rival’s lead was unassailable, and despite his refusal to accept defeat, pressure is growing on him to acknowledge Mr. Biden’s victory and help prepare the transition from one administration to another.

Texas’s Republican lieutenant-governor Dan Patrick has offered a $1 million reward from his own campaign funds for any tipsters who can come forward to provide evidence of ballot tampering in the recent US elections.

​The bounty offered by Patrick is to “incentivize, encourage and reward people to come forward” in support of Donald Trump’s “efforts to identify voter fraud”. Reports that result in an arrest and final conviction are to receive a minimum remuneration of $25,000.

“I support President Trump’s efforts to identify voter fraud in the presidential election and his commitment to making sure that every legal vote is counted and every illegal vote is disqualified,” said Patrick in a statement.
The GOP governor added that Trump’s intention to purse the issue of voter fraud is “essential to maintain our democracy and restore faith in future elections”.
