The Drug Enforcement Administration today announced the issuance of an Immediate Suspension Order served on Morris & Dickson Company, a wholesale pharmaceutical distributor, located in Shreveport, Louisiana, after an  investigation alleged that this distribution center failed to properly identify large suspicious orders for controlled substances sold to independent pharmacies with a questionable need for the drugs, primarily on purchases of Oxycodone and Hydrocodone.


A further review revealed that in some cases, pharmacies were allowed to purchase as much as six times the quantity of narcotics the pharmacy would normally order. In spite of regulations which require distributors to identify such orders, DEA alleges that Morris & Dickson Company failed to identify these large suspicious orders resulting in millions of dosage units of Oxycodone and Hydrocodone being distributed in violation of the law.

“Opioid distributors have a legal obligation not to facilitate the illicit diversion of drugs,” said Attorney General Jeff Sessions. “That obligation has never been more important than it is right now as we face the deadliest drug crisis in American history. According to the allegations, many large suspicious orders for opioids were made, filled, and unreported by Morris and Dickson. We can only imagine how many pills were diverted, abused, and how many addictions began as a result. Today’s suspension will help us achieve the President’s goals of reducing opioid prescriptions in the United States and stopping the spread of addiction. I want to thank the DEA for their vigilance, for all of their hard work. The Justice Department will continue to use suspensions, deregistrations, and every other tool we have to stop the drug epidemic.”

In the boiling war of words and deeds against Syria, Israel’s Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz warned that Mr. Assad may find himself in Israel’s sights.

“If Assad allows Iran to turn Syria into a military vanguard against us, to attack us from Syrian territory, he should know that would be the end of him, the end of his regime,” Mr. Steinitz told the Ynet news site.

Asked if that meant Israel might assassinate Mr. Assad, Mr. Steinitz said: “His blood would be forfeit.”

Israel could respond to any Iranian attack on it from Syria by toppling Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government, a hint that Mr. Assad himself may be targeted for assassination.

pay of at least $11 an hour and a one-off cash bonus, a move following last month’s US tax code overhaul that cut the corporate rate from 35% to a flat 21%.

Other companies, including Wells Fargo and AT&T have promised wage rises or bonuses, and full and part-time workers at Walmart, the world’s biggest retailer, will receive a bonus of up to $1,000 based on their length of service, a campaign promise kept by Mr. Trump to not abandon “the forgotten people” of America, or shall we use the expression of Hillary “I have no recollection of my email server” Clinton who described all who did not vote for her as “basement dwellers” and “deplorables.”

Drug company Pfizer has announced it is pulling out of research into drugs to treat Alzheimer’s disease by ending its neuroscience discovery programs following a review, leading to a loss of 300 jobs, a news the Alzheimer’s Society called “disappointing” and a “heavy blow” to millions living with dementia.

Is there a hope for Alzheimer’s patients on the horizon? Yes, there is as 
pharmaceutical companies including Novartis, Janssen, Biogen, Abbvie and Eli Lilly are still developing medicines to treat Alzheimer’s disease and a spokesman for the ABPI (Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry) said they continued “to make progress in unravelling the complexities of the brain and identifying the underpinnings of the disease”.

The conditions at Victory Inn in Detroit’s southwest side were unlike anything Jeremy Forys, a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Detroit special agent that ever seen.

It was then a personal victory for officer Forys and 200 other law enforcement personnel when they descended on the Victory Inn in one of the largest human trafficking enforcement operations in Detroit history, leading to the demolition of the drug ring’s nest of evil in December 2017, and special recognition of Special Agent Forys on the news magazine show Crime Watch Daily with Chris Hansen. 

“Victims always have to come first in this. When [the motel] shut down, it was a great feeling because we knew there’d be no more trafficking that would go on at that location,” Forys said. “For me personally, and my agency, we see that as a pretty large victory.”

Sinaloa Cartel cell leader Damaso Lopez-Serrano, 29, of Culiacan, Mexico aka “Mini Lic,” pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine following his self-surrender to U.S. law enforcement authorities at the Calexico West, Mexico Port of Entry on July 27, 2017. 

Lopez-Serrano accepted responsibility for his role as a leader within the Sinaloa Cartel for the transportation and distribution of thousands of kilograms of controlled substances for importation from Mexico into the United States, and admitted to possessing firearms for the purpose of promoting the Sinaloa Cartel’s narcotics trafficking activities. 

“Damaso Lopez-Serrano’s conviction strikes a serious blow to the leadership of the Sinaloa Cartel and its violent drug trafficking activities,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Cronan. “The Administration, the Department and our law enforcement partners are steadfast in our commitment to pursuing and dismantling the international drug rings that poison our communities.”
