PHOENIX – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) arrested a dangerous illegal alien Friday who was wanted in Colorado on felony charges stemming from a sexual assault on a child. On July 23, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office in Breckenridge, Colorado, arrested and booked Rafael Ceba-Garcia into the Garfield County Jail. He was arrested on two counts of sexual assault of a child by a person in a position of trust. The victim in this case was a female child under 15 years of age.
“The coordinated efforts between the Phoenix and Denver ICE offices exemplify the tremendous work the men and women of ICE undertake to identify and prioritize the targeting of individuals who pose considerable threats to the most vulnerable,” said Corey A. Price, field office director for ERO Phoenix.

Indivior Solutions was sentenced to pay $289 million in criminal penalties in connection with a previous guilty plea related to the marketing of the opioid-addiction-treatment drug Suboxone, as
U.S. District Judge James P. Jones of the Western District of Virginia entered the sentence against Indivior Solutions pursuant to a plea agreement. Altogether, Indivior Solutions will pay $600 million to resolve its civil and criminal liability in this matter. In total, the payments made by Indivior Solutions and its parent companies, Indivior Inc. and Indivior plc, along with payments made under a 2019 resolution with Indivior’s former parent, Reckitt Benckiser Group plc, and criminal penalties paid pursuant to plea agreements with two former Indivior executives will exceed $2 billion. That amount represents the second-largest monetary resolution obtained by the Department of Justice in a case involving an opioid drug.
Suboxone, which contains the powerful opioid buprenorphine, is a drug product approved for use by recovering opioid addicts to avoid or reduce withdrawal symptoms while they undergo treatment for opioid-use disorder. In connection with its guilty plea, Indivior Solutions admitted to making false statements to the Massachusetts Medicaid program (MassHealth) related to the relative safety of Suboxone Film, a version of Suboxone, around children.
“Combating the opioid epidemic is a top priority for the Department of Justice,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Jeffrey Bossert Clark of the Justice Department’s Civil Division.
“We will hold drug manufacturers accountable when they make misrepresentations that could affect consumers’ access to opioid addiction treatments.”
Indivior Solutions, a subsidiary of Indivior Inc., pleaded guilty on July 24.

Ambassador Varricchio stressed that the event, “demonstrates how even during the pandemic, the collaboration between Italian and American law enforcement agencies has continued to produce extraordinary results. The MOU lays the foundations to give further impetus to almost 20 years of outstanding cooperation with the United States with whom we share the conviction that preserving our cultural heritage is indispensable for studying and deepening our knowledge of the past and building a better future.”
“The United States and Italy have worked together to stop looting and trafficking of Italy’s archaeological heritage since 2001 when our countries first entered into a bilateral agreement. It has been a model for cooperation in combating the loss of such priceless cultural heritage. Our cooperation not only protects valuable Italian artifacts but also eliminates key sources of funding for terrorists and transnational organized crime engaged in the illicit trade of cultural property,” said Assistant Secretary Marie Royce.

A west Tennessee psychiatrist, identified as Richard Farmer, 83, of Memphis, Tennessee, was sentenced today to 48 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release for unlawfully distributing opioids, being sentenced by U.S. District Judge Thomas L. Parker, after was found guilty by a jury on Feb. 21, 2020, of three counts of distribution of controlled substances outside the scope of professional practice and without a legitimate medical purpose.
The defendant was charged in an April 2019 indictment as part of the first Appalachian Regional Prescription Opioid (ARPO) Strike Force Takedown, and his conviction was the first guilty trial verdict for the ARPO Strike Force.
“The Department of Justice is committed to ensuring that physicians who abuse their power to promote and prolong drug addiction for their own benefit are punished accordingly,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Brian Rabbitt of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division.
“Opioid misuse and abuse is an insidious epidemic, created in large part by the over-prescribing and diversion of potent opioids,” said U.S. Attorney D. Michael Dunavant of the Western District of Tennessee.
“This sentence demonstrates our ability and resolve to aggressively prosecute and hold accountable any medical personnel who misuse their positions of trust to exploit the very people coming to them for help.”

That marks an increase of over 1,000 new cases, and forced Chancellor Angela Merkel to meet with the premiers of all 16 states to discuss new rules to contain the virus:

“Be careful, to follow the rules, to keep their distance, to cover their mouths and noses and to do what they can to contain the virus while still maintaining economic activity,” Mrs. Merkel said.

.FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the leader and final member of an Arkansas-based drug trafficking organization, identified as Marion Wise, of Cave Springs, was sentenced in the Western District of Arkansas to 25 years in prison on Oct. 6 for conspiracy to distribute heroin.

The defendant was sentenced to 300 months followed by five years of supervised release, being the last member of 25 individuals sentenced for their roles in a heroin and methamphetamine trafficking ring that operated in Benton and Washington Counties in Arkansas, and in California, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arizona, and Mexico. The joint HSI Fayetteville and Drug Enforcement Administration Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation of this operation began in mid-2018.

“Those who deal in narcotics trafficking posed a deadly threat, bringing in dangerous and addictive drugs and related criminal activity to our communities. This lengthy sentence reflects the seriousness of the crimes and the lack of tolerance for the endangerment to our citizens,” said HSI New Orleans acting Special Agent in Charge Gilbert Trill.
“Our special agents are deeply committed to working with our law enforcement partners to disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking efforts in our communities.”

“The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors today approved an envelope of $12 billion for developing countries to finance the purchase and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, tests, and treatments for their citizens”, the news release said by the world’s money authority, a move intended to provide support the vaccination of up to a billion people. In addition from purchasing COVID-19 vaccines, the program includes technical support, namely supply chain and logistics management to provide their effective deployment and expand the distribution capacity. 

The World Bank earlier reported that the coronavirus pandemic may put more than 150 million people around the globe into extreme poverty and drive up child mortality rates in developing countries by slightly less than a half of the current rate.
