Sudanese officials are about to hand over former autocratic president Omar al-Bashir to the International Criminal Court (ICC) for war crimes, including mass killings in Darfur, considered crimes against humanity and genocide related to the Darfur conflict.
Not surprisingly, Al-Bashir said he will refuse to deal with the ICC as it is a “political court”,true to his position as a poster boy for impunity in Africa and out of reach of international justice, was overthrown in April and later jailed on charges of corruption and killing protesters.
Mohammed Hassan al-Taishi, a member of the Sovereign Council and a government negotiator, said that they have agreed with rebel groups in Darfur to hand over those wanted by the International Criminal Court to face justice in The Hague.

The Coast Guard said drug busts made off Mexico, Central America and South America eight operations by the crews of four cutters between mid-November and mid-January seized a haul of about 18,000 pounds of cocaine in a campaign launched by the US against drug cartels operating in the eastern Pacific Ocean.
The cocaine, estimated to be worth about $US338 million, was offloaded from the cutter Munro at Naval Base San Diego, with the Coast Guard saying the busts were made in “known drug-transit zones” off Mexico, Central America and South America.
In September, the US Coast Guard offloaded more than 10,800 pounds of cocaine in Miami that was seized from suspected drug smugglers in the eastern Pacific Ocean.
