US Vice President Kamala Harris is planning to address the UN on 26 April with a speech calling on countries to start preparations for a new pandemic, citing an obtained document allegedly containing the text of her speech, telling the world still struggling to overcome the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, including among the medical community, that are already saying that the emergence of the next one is just a matter of time:

“At the same time that the world works to get through this pandemic, we also know that we must prepare for the next”, what Kamala is supposedly planning to say to UN members via a virtual address.
Harris will outline her vision of what actions countries should undertake in order to improve their response to a potential next pandemic, including improved access to national health systems, increasing investments in scientific research, raising funding for medical workers, and boosting the manufacturing capacities for PPE (personal protective equipment), vaccines, and tests, as well as investing in the wellbeing of women.

One of the world’s wealthiest men, Bill Gates, has apparently dismissed the growing movement to waive intellectual property rights to COVID-19 vaccines, which would allow poorer nations to get their lists of ingredients and produce their own versions, suggesting they will have to wait in line until wealthier nations protect themselves and pass them the scraps.

“There’s only so many vaccine factories in the world and people are very serious about the safety of vaccines. And so moving something that had never been done – moving a vaccine, say, from a J&J [Johnson & Johnson] factory into a factory in India – it’s novel – it’s only because of our grants and expertise that that can happen at all.”

California’s secretary of state said that 1.6 million valid signatures had been verified, some 100,000 more than were needed, and conformed opponents of state’s governor have enough valid signatures to trigger a state-wide vote on his leadership, up for re-election in 2022, but the recall means he will now probably have a vote this autumn, and among the opponents he may face are reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner, after she announces bid for California governor.
Should the recall election go ahead, it would only be the second such vote in California, and the fourth nationwide in US history:

US population growth slows, showing the US population currently stands at 331,449,281 – an increase of 7.4% over 2010’s count, the lowest number since the 1930s during the Great Depression, despite the South growing fastest at 10.2%, the West was second fastest at 9.2%, followed by the north-east at 4.1%. Up leader is Utah, growing at a rate of 18.4% over the past decade, while West Virginia was the fastest shrinking state with a rate of -3.2%.
