More than 80 U.S. Air Force Honor Guard parade element members traveled west; about half went to Illinois for the 2018 Chicago Memorial Day Parade on May 26, while the other half went to Indiana for the Indianapolis Power and Light 500 Festival Parade, also on May 26, and then continued to Pittsburgh for the Lawrenceville Memorial Day parade May 27. “Every time we do a parade, and I hear the support of the crowd, it always reinvigorates me and reminds me of why we do this,” said Senior Airman Amanda Skidmore, U.S. Air Force honor guardsman. Meanwhile, the honor guard’s drill team, along with Air Force Band’s rock band “Max Impact,” traveled to Miami for the two-day National Salute to America’s Heroes Air and Sea Show.

In order to crunch more and more data in the mad world of social media and government bureaucracy, quantum physicists have achieved entanglement record: A controlled multi-particle entanglement in a system of 20 quantum bits, which is the largest entangled quantum register of individually controllable systems to date.
“We generate and characterize entangled states of a register of 20 individually controlled qubits, where each qubit is encoded into the electronic state of a trapped atomic ion,” said the research team, led by Ben Lanyon and Rainer Blatt at the Institute of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information (IQOQI) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
The research team was able to detect genuine multi-particle entanglement between all neighboring groups of three, four and five quantum bits.
“The particles are first entangled in pairs,” Lanyon was quoted as saying in a news release. “With the methods developed by our colleagues in Vienna and Ulm, we can then prove the further spread of the entanglement to all neighboring particle triplets, most quadruplets and a few quintuplets.”
What is qubit? In ancient computer science basic Boolean algebra, bit could 0 or 1, like a switch could be on or off: in quantum physics, qubit could have many more states, thus allowing large amounts of information to be coded.

“ICE continues to face significant obstacles with policies created by local officials which hinder cooperation between ICE and local law enforcement. Yet, with the tireless efforts of the men and women of ICE, this operation was a great success,” said Thomas R. Decker, field office director for ERO New York. “The fact is that a so-called “sanctuary city” does not only provide refuge to those who are here against immigration law but also provides protections for criminal aliens who prey on the people in their own communities by committing crimes at all levels. ICE is committed to enforcing the immigration laws set forth by Congress with integrity, despite the push-back and rhetoric within the city they serve.”
More than 60 individuals arrested during this operation were previously released from local law enforcement on an active detainer. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) places detainers on individuals who have been arrested on local criminal charges and who are suspected of being deportable so that ICE can take custody of that person when he or she is released from local custody. When law enforcement agencies fail to honor immigration detainers and release serious criminal offenders onto the streets, it undermines ICE’s ability to protect public safety and carry out its mission.

Here is yet another court saying that any police department that does go along with detainer requests can be held liable,” said an attorney with the ACLU as a federal judge in Los Angeles ruled that police departments violate the Constitution if they detain inmates at the request of immigration agents, throwing another “monkey wrench” in the wheels of Trump’s ICE police efforts to identify and deport immigrants in the country illegally.
“The LASD officers have no authority to arrest individuals for civil immigration offenses, and thus, detaining individuals beyond their date for release violated the individuals’ Fourth Amendment rights,” U.S. District Judge Andre Birotte Jr. wrote, as his order allows an estimated 10,000 to 12,000 people who were improperly held in L.A. County jails on ICE detainers between 2010 and 2014 may be entitled to monetary awards.

Charges were unsealed today in Houston, Texas, against six individuals for their alleged participation in an elaborate international advance fee and money laundering scheme. The scheme allegedly involved the impersonation of Branch Banking & Trust (BB&T) and JPMorgan Chase (Chase) executives, the fabrication of U.S. government documents, the creation of fraudulent investment agreements in the name of BB&T and Chase, and the purchase of luxury vehicles to launder the proceeds of the scheme.
Uju Okigbo, 48, of Richmond, Texas; Chioma Okafor, 28, of Houston, Texas; Marita Ranalan Underwood, 61, of Manila, Philippines; John Christian Rutledge, 64, of Yaphank, New York; and Osa May Martin, 68, of Carthage, Missouri, were charged in an indictment unsealed today in the Southern District of Texas. All five defendants were charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Okigbo and Okafor were also charged with one count of conspiracy to launder monetary instruments, as well as two counts each of wire fraud and two counts each of concealment money laundering. Okigbo is also charged with three counts of engaging in transactions with proceeds of specified unlawful activity, and one count of aggravated identity theft for impersonating a U.S. banking executive. Underwood, Rutledge and Martin are also charged with one count of conspiracy to wrongfully use government seals.
