George Sorbane Quotes:

1. “So Alex was counting the days until he would step on the holy soil of Boston, ready to breathe the cold Atlantic air and sense the spirits of those remarkable people about whom he had read so much with nearly religious admiration, walk the streets in their footsteps, and pray in the churches where they had found peace and solace in times of fateful junction.”― “The Endless Beginning”

2…………> Ohio Physician/Drug Dealer: Pushing Opioids

Assistant Attorney General Mr. Brian A. Benczkowski of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division announced that Morris Brown, M.D. 75, who owned a Dayton-area medical practice pleaded guilty today for illegally distributing opioids.   pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful distribution of controlled substances before U.S. District Judge Walter Rice of the Southern District of Ohio. Brown is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Rice on May 8.

Brown admitted that he prescribed controlled substances to patients in amounts and for lengths of time that were outside the scope of legitimate medical practice, and also admitted that he routinely prescribed controlled substances to patients even though various “red flags” suggested that he should stop writing those prescriptions, change the prescriptions and/or counsel patients accordingly.  Moreover, he prescribed dangerous combinations of drugs known to heighten the risk of overdose and death.

Brown was charged along with Ismail Abuhanieh, 50, of Phoenix, Arizona; Mahmoud Elmiari, 44, of Bellbrook, Ohio; Yohannes Tinsae, 48, of Beavercreek, Ohio; and Mahmoud Rifai, 50, of Detroit, Michigan in April 2019.  All four of Brown’s co-defendants were charged for their roles in agreeing to obtain controlled substances for Dayton Pharmacy by fraud or misrepresentation.  Elmiari and Tinsae have entered guilty pleas and are scheduled for sentencing on May 13, 2020.  Abuhanieh is scheduled for a change of plea on March 10, 2020.  Rifai is the subject of an active arrest warrant.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

3…………> Italy In The Cross-Hairs Of Deadly Infection: Corona-Virus

Three Italian nationals have tested positive for corona-virus in the country’s north in what is Italy’s first known cases of local transmission of the potentially deadly illness, as 100 people are being tested for the virus in Codogno, and 60 people had been placed in quarantine as a precaution.

Just three people had been confirmed in Italy to have the virus,  and the first infected Italian, a 38-year-old man, had dinner in early February with a friend who had just come back from China, and following that two more people tested positive for the virus — the initial patient’s pregnant wife, and another man he had come into contact with, according to Ansa news agency.

Two Chinese tourists who came from Wuhan tested positive in Rome in late January, while an Italian who returned from the Chinese city with a special flight repatriating some 56 nationals was hospitalized a week later, and now more than 76,780 people have been infected globally, in as many as 27 countries, and 2,248 people have died, most in Hubei province and its capital Wuhan.

4…………> Nosy Cousin Parker Google: Spied On New Mexico Children?

The attorney general of the US state of New Mexico is suing Google for illegally collecting the personal data of school children, about websites students visited, recording passwords, videos watched, contact lists, and other information, the data gathered from Google’s Chromebook laptops and G Suite for Education program.

Attorney General Hector Balderas said Google had failed to get parental consent from children under 13 and collected their data for commercial purposes, in violation of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.

“Student safety should be the number one priority of any company providing services to our children, particularly in schools,” Mr. Balderas said in a statement.

“Tracking student data without parental consent is not only illegal, it is dangerous. Google should be telling parents that they’re going to stalk and track these children, and under the guise of education,” he added.

5…………> Yangtze River Hotels: Corona-Virus Medical Labs

Seven cruise ships on Yangtze River have been mobilized as “water hotels” for medical staff battling against the novel corona-virus, or COVID-19, in the central China city of Wuhan, the center of the epidemic outbreak, providing 1,469 hospital beds, with each ship equipped with fire-fighting, water and power supply facilities.

The city of Yichang will also send a multi-functional garbage collection ship to serve for collecting and treating waste and sewage from the seven ships, yet another step in the war against the novel corona-virus infection in the hard-hit province that had 62,662 people, and Wuhan, the provincial capital, recorded a total of 45,346 confirmed cases.
