A man named Taylor Huddleston, 27, of Hot Springs, Arkansas was sentenced today to 33 months in prison for aiding and abetting computer intrusions by selling malicious software, or “malware,” to individuals who used the malware to steal sensitive information, surreptitiously activate webcams, and conduct other illegal intrusions.

Huddleston developed, marketed, and distributed two products that were extremely popular with cybercriminals around the world, beginning with the “NanoCore RAT,” a type of malware that is used to steal information from victim computers, including sensitive information such as passwords, emails, and instant messages. The other product, “Net Seal,” was licensing software that he used to distribute malware to co-conspirators for a fee.

Russian military officers with a security clearance grade of top secret have begun to be issued with ultra-secure, cryptographically protected cell phones,

communication devices known as the Atlas M-663S cost about 115,000 rubles (about $2,050 US) and can work using ordinary civilian cellular networks, allowing officers to use them not only on deployment but during drills and trips, including missions abroad.

“Now, Russia finally has a phone with “our electronics, our assembly, our standards for data encryption and information security at the microprocessor component level,” Dr. Vitaly Vekhov, an expert on the subject added.

A firm is known for its aggressive international acquisitions, including New York’s Waldorf Astoria hotel, the Anbang Insurance Group has been taken over by Beijing’s insurance regulator for a year, and its head Wu Xiaohui, who was already detained by authorities last June, is to be prosecuted for “economic crimes” in Chinese authorities crack down on the financial industry to guard against excessive borrowing and risk.

“[The takeover is] clearly designed to be a warning shot to firms engaged in particular types of financial engineering and leveraged acquisitions (as Anbang was),” Tom Rafferty of the Economist Intelligence Unit told the BBC.

“The government has made clear reducing financial risk is one of its main policy priorities.”

President Trump has threatened to remove federal immigration and customs agents from the “Communist Sanctuary State” of California over its refusal to cooperate with immigration enforcement efforts.

“Frankly, if I wanted to pull our people from California, you would have a crime mess like you’ve never seen in California. All I’d have to do is to say ‘ICE and Border Patrol, let California alone,” Trump said during a meeting on school safety, referring to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

“It’s a disgrace, the sanctuary city situation, the protection of these horrible criminals… that if we ever pulled our ICE out, if we ever said ‘hey, let California alone, let them figure it out for themselves,’ in two months they’d be begging for us to come back, they would be begging. And you know what? I’m thinking about doing it,” he added.

“There’s no sanctuary from federal law enforcement. As a matter of fact, we’re in the process now, I’m going to significantly increase our enforcement presence in California. We’re already doing it,”  ICE Director Tom Homan told Fox News.

Mr. Buffett, one of the richest men in the world, opposed the plan, yet according to Fortune magazine’s, he is worth $87bn, behind only Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos, the founders of Microsoft and Amazon.
