Police are now pursuing charges against protesters who blocked traffic during those demonstrations, and broke into Shulga’s home on the morning of 6 February as part of that investigation. They took his computer, telephones and other equipment and filmed themselves forcing him into humiliating positions.

Dr. Peter Ben Embarek, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) mission, said it was “extremely unlikely” that the virus leaked from a lab in the city of Wuhan, as his team of international experts investigating the origins of Covid-19 have all but dismissed a theory that the virus came from a laboratory in China, with the investigation is about to focus on South East Asia, despite the city of Wuhan, in China’s central Hubei province, is the first place in the world that the virus was detected in 2019. Since then, more than 106 million cases and 2.3 million deaths have been reported worldwide.

The WHO leader told a press conference the investigation had uncovered new information but had not dramatically changed the picture of the outbreak, saying work to identify the origins of Covid-19 pointed to a “natural reservoir” in bats, but it was unlikely that this happened in Wuhan.

Personally blessed by the Lord, Europe’s oldest person, French nun Sister Andre, aka Lucile Randon, has apparently survived COVID-19 and will celebrate her 117th birthday this week, after taking the name when she joined a Catholic charitable order in 1944, tested positive for coronavirus in her retirement home in Toulon, southern France, on Jan. 16, was isolated from other residents, but displayed no symptoms.

Asked if she was scared to have COVID, Sister Andre told France’s BFM television:

“No, I wasn’t scared because I wasn’t scared to die… I’m happy to be with you, but I would wish to be somewhere else – join my big brother and my grandfather and my grandmother.”

David Tavella, spokesman for the Sainte Catherine Labouré retirement home, said she was doing well.

“We consider her to be cured. She is very calm and she is looking forward to celebrating her 117th birthday on Thursday.”

A “mystery illness” is being investigated by health officials in India after hundreds of people were hospitalized over the weekend, as healthcare officers noticed that 45 people who lived in different areas presented at hospitals and clinics suffering from the strange symptoms, with patients being examined after experiencing symptoms including nausea and vomiting while some suffered seizures and burning eyes.

At this stage some 300 people have been hospitalized throughout the weekend, and one person has died, the outbreak coming during bad time when the country is struggling through its own coronavirus crisis, recording more than 36,000 new cases on Saturday, but the various patients suffering the mystery illness were all tested for COVID-19 and returned negative tests.
