RENO, Nev. – A local area man identified as Eric Blair McCartt, aka Aeryne McCartt, 37, of Reno, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for producing images of child sexual abuse involving multiple minor victims under the age of 12 years old, following an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Las Vegas, pleading guilty in Jan. 2019, to producing child pornography. According to court documents, McCarrtt joined a chat group dedicated to trading child sexual abuse materials, using two prepubescent minor victims known to him to produce images of child sexual abuse including photographing his own genitalia on the victims’ faces while they were sleeping. He distributed these images to others in the chat group, and some of the images were posted to the internet. Several of the images were found on the computer of another individual in another country.

“With this sentencing, we have removed a dangerous child predator from the community and sent a categorical message that we are committed to aggressively investigate anyone who seeks to exploit our most vulnerable population – our children,” said Francisco Burrola, special agent in charge for HSI Las Vegas.
“Child pornography, when it’s released on the internet, lives on forever to haunt the innocent children whose abuse is depicted in the images. While we cannot undo the damage of his horrible crimes, we hope that this sentence helps with the healing process for his victims and families.”

Four members of the ‘Proud Boys’ organization were charged by a federal grand jury with conspiring to impede Congress on 6 January, a new superseding indictment unsealed indicates, that all four defendants are the leaders of Proud Boys divisions in their respective states: Ethan Nordean of Washington, Joseph Biggs of Florida, Zachary Rehl of Pennsylvania and Charles Donohoe of North Carolina. They were charged with conspiring to encourage members of the group to attend the “Stop the Steal” protest in Washington, DC on 6 January.

They supplied paramilitary equipment used during the storming of the Capitol, dismantled metal barriers set up around the building, and communicated using handheld radios and messaging applications, the indictment alleges.

US security chiefs have warned of a heightened threat of domestic terrorism from people unhappy with the outcome of the November election, as the Department of Homeland Security said the 6 January attack on the US Capitol by Trump supporters may have emboldened some extremists, and that the department believed the threat would persist in “the weeks following the successful presidential inauguration”:
“Information suggests that some ideologically-motivated violent extremists with objections to the exercise of governmental authority and the presidential transition, as well as other perceived grievances fueled by false narratives, could continue to mobilize to incite or commit violence,” it said.
The attack on the Capitol sent shockwaves around the country and US authorities moved quickly to identify and arrest those responsible.
Prosecutors say they have so far identified 400 suspects and arrested 135 in connection with the violence.

Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels denounced US new President “Uncle” Joe, “Sleeping in a wrong century” Biden policies, calling the executive orders on immigration “hasty” and urging the president to “stop this madness”:

“It goes back to show you how vulnerable our southwest border is to include every American in this country if we don’t have a secure border,” he said.

“We’ve worked so well over the years and why we need a secure border is just common sense.”

The sheriff said that “political theatre” he thinks is at play “is scary to all of us on the southwest border, sheriffs, police departments and our federal partners and every American should be standing up on this.”

He also suggested that “thousands of children” were being exploited by cartels, many federal agents had been assaulted and “more than 1,000 gang members” from over a dozen countries had breached the southwest border in 2019.

“We’ve been down this road before”, Dannels continued.

“I don’t know why we can’t look in the past and find balance in our processes, our programs, and stop this madness.”

Samir Al Jubouri arrived in the EU last January, happy and relieved to have made his way from Iraq to Germany, and like most locals, had not yet heard about the coronavirus, but a year later, the 39-year-old is still housed at a refugee center in Bonn, where he wears a mask to cover his nose and mouth:

Dedicated Putin critic Alexei Navalny, 44, was  detained after flying back to Moscow from Germany, five months after he was nearly killed by a nerve agent attack, then led away by police at passport control at Sheremetyevo airport as thousands crowded a different Moscow airport to greet his flight from Berlin, not aware that the plane was diverted.

Mr. Navalny blames Russian authorities for the attempt on his life last year, and not surprisingly the  Kremlin denied any role in the caper.

The opposition politician’s allegations have however been backed up by reports from investigative journalists.

US President-elect Joe Biden’s incoming national security adviser echoed the call:

“The Kremlin’s attacks on Mr. Navalny are not just a violation of human rights, but an affront to the Russian people who want their voices heard.”

“Both the plain text and the evident purpose of Congress’ constitutional impeachment power make manifestly clear that the Congress is without the constitutional power to impeach a president, once he has left office,” Graham said in his Sunday letter.

Graham, a long time Trump supporter, said that proceeding with the impeachment in the Senate would be both unconstitutional and unwise.

An alleged Antifa supporter identified as  the 33-year-old Daniel Alan Baker have been recruiting people through social media to join him in an armed protest against pro-Trump supporters reportedly planning to gather on Sunday at the state Capitol, just a few days before the inauguration

Baker served in the US Army before being expelled for going AWOL just before his unit was sent to Iraq. After his expulsion, he lived nearly 10 years as a homeless man in the Tallahassee area before joining the People’s Protection Units (YPG), a primarily-Kurdish armed militia fighting in Syria against ISIS and the Turkish government.
