   After a nasty supercell hailstorm ripped through the small town locality of Yengarie, located in Australia’s Queensland, it left it resembling an apocalyptic wasteland more than a tropical Queensland landscape.

   Trees have been stripped of their bark and leaves, the forest floor is littered with the carcasses of small birds, and residents in one of the hardest hit areas, Bridge Road, are suffering from losses of property and farm animals.

   Bridge Road resident Jade Doyle has buried her beloved miniature horse, Candy, after it escaped the mangled remains of its stable, only to be crushed by a tree in the field. That any of the 25 horses at the property ‘Lilleshall’ survived is a small miracle, owner Trinity Dunning said. She described the terror of the phone being cut to her two daughters who huddled under a table at home while she desperately tried to get back from work.

   “They were mucking around outside with their horses and I said ‘go inside, there’s going to be a storm’ and then within 15 minutes it was crazy,” she said.

   “They were inside on the phone, just screaming. I couldn’t hear them. I didn’t know if someone was dead. I had no idea what was going on.

   “Jade rang me too and then her phone cut out. The last thing she said was her car is moving across the road — and she was parked. (ABC News)

   According to a Portland, Oregon police news release, on Saturday, October 13, 2018, a demonstration, counter-demonstration and an illegal march occurred in Downtown Portland, with the protest events and rally held on sidewalks and roadways in the Downtown Portland area over the course of approximately three hours.

   Prior to the start of the protests, liaison officers attempted to communicate with both “Patriots” and “Antifa” groups to help facilitate a safe environment for everyone involved, observing  people in possession of hard-knuckled gloves, firearms, batons, knives and use of pepper spray.

   At this time, there are no reports of any weapons that were seized during today’s demonstration, counter-demonstration and march. The Police Bureau is aware that people were assaulted during today’s demonstration at an incident in the 400 blocks of Southwest Washington Street. On scene Portland Fire and Rescue emergency medical technicians provided emergency medical aid to four people during the march.

   Three former commodities traders of a New York-based financial services firm (“Trading Firm A”) were charged yesterday for their alleged participation in an over $60 million commodities fraud and spoofing conspiracy that was perpetrated through the U.S. commodities markets. Two of these traders have agreed to plead guilty for their respective roles in the criminal conspiracy.

   Yuchun “Bruce” Mao, 39, a citizen of the People’s Republic of China, was indicted on one count of conspiracy to commit commodities fraud, two counts of commodities fraud and two counts of spoofing. Kamaldeep Gandhi, 36, of Chicago, was charged by criminal information with two counts of conspiracy to engage in wire fraud, commodities fraud, and spoofing. Krishna Mohan, 33, of New York, New York, was charged by criminal information with one count of conspiracy to engage in wire fraud, commodities fraud, and spoofing.

   “As alleged in today’s charges, these individuals engaged in a sophisticated scheme to distort the futures market for their advantage by placing large ‘spoofed’ trading orders that they never intended to execute,” said Assistant Attorney General Benczkowski.

   “Investor trust is the cornerstone of our trading markets, and the Criminal Division will aggressively investigate and prosecute those who undermine that trust by engaging in spoofing or any other illegal conduct.”

   The indictment alleges that Mao was co-head of a trading team that traded commodities on behalf of Trading Firm A, working in Chicago and New York. The indictment alleges that from in or around March 2012 through in or around March 2014, Mao and others conspired to mislead the markets for E-Mini S&P 500 and E‑Mini NASDAQ 100 futures contracts traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), and E-Mini Dow futures contracts traded on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT). The indictment further alleges that Mao and his co-conspirators deceived market participants and manipulated markets by placing thousands of orders that they did not intend to execute, or “spoof orders,” to create the false and misleading appearance of increased supply or demand. Market participants that traded futures contracts in these three markets while the spoof orders distorted market prices incurred market losses of over $60 million.
