A Honduran man identified as Jose Salazar-Aguilar, 33, a citizen of Honduras,     pleaded guilty in federal court to illegally re-entering the United States 10 times, after having originally been deported following his conviction for an aggravated felony. 

This is Salazar-Aguilar’s second re-entry conviction, after being arrested by Kansas City, Mo., police officers on Feb. 19, 2017, for driving under the influence and resisting arrest. After he was released on bond, ICE officers apprehended him during a traffic stop on Feb. 27, 2017.

Salazar-Aguilar was convicted in Oregon in 2003 of the felony offense of delivering a controlled substance; he was deported after serving his imposed sentence. Salazar-Aguilar also has prior felony convictions for possessing a controlled substance, forgery and illegally re-entering the United States after having been deported following an aggravated felony conviction.

Under federal statutes, Salazar-Aguilar is subject to a sentence of up to 20 years in federal prison without parole.

China’s first cloud artificial intelligence (AI) chip was released by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in Shanghai.

The cloud chip MLU100, developed by Cambricon Technology, will have accurate and fast big data processing ability, especially in image and voice search methods.

The cloud chips are mainly used in cloud computing, including servers and data centers. The MLU100 is powerful and can complete complicated cloud intelligence tasks, according to the CAS.

The cloud chip supports “deep learning,” or neural networks that mimic human learning. Deep learning is a type of machine learning involving algorithms that can analyze data, recognize patterns and make predictions.

A powerful storm swept through parts of north and western India overnight, slamming the four districts of Uttar Pradesh, Saharanpur, Bareilly, Bijnore, and Agra, as heavy rain and high winds knocked down houses, electricity poles and trees, blocked roads and disrupted power supplies in the worst-affected areas.

More than 100 people were killed and at least 160 injured in the dust and rain storms that have knocked down power poles and houses and uprooted trees, according to government officials.

“We experienced a fierce storm, with an unusually high wind speed,” Hemant Gera, responsible for relief and disaster management in Rajasthan, said speaking by phone from Jaipur, the state capital.

Pop group Abba returned to the studio to record their first new music since the 1980s, with the Swedish quartet saying that the new material was an “unexpected consequence” of their recent decision to put together a “virtual reality” tour.

“We all four felt that, after some 35 years, it could be fun to join forces again and go into the studio,” the band said on Instagram.

“And it was like time stood still.”

We live in historic times, when every week or so, a “Liberal Legend” will fall into  the ever-expanding “sex-addicts” trashcan of Hollywood’s “Lover boys”, starting with “America’s dad” Mr. Bill Cosby who was recently sentenced to prison for raping a woman, followed by the “Couch Fiasco” of Mr. Harvey Weinstein, almost surpassed by NBC Matt Lauer who resigned due to abundant sex claims, and the list goes on and on, all along ignoring, or deliberately forgetting Antony “Hot pants” Weiner, the disgraced husband of Uma Abeding, and topping the “Top 100 List”, the incomparable “Lord Of The Women Abusers,” Bill “I did not have sex with that woman” Clinton.


Now “poker-faced” NBC anchor Tom Brokaw, a “Pillar of Liberal wisdom and Integrity” has joined the “Hot Pants” team after being accused by a war correspondent named Linda Vester that he groped her, twice tried to forcibly kiss her and made inappropriate overtures attempting to have an affair.


What is the matter with all those people, to have the energy to be a “superstar,” and at the same time trying to slide their long, “love” searching fingers around an innocent woman in a trek for more and more fun? Too much “oyster sauce” in the soup? It could be.

Shan Shi, 53, of Houston, and Gang Liu, 32, a Chinese national, were charged yesterday by superseding indictment with conspiracy to commit economic espionage for the benefit of CBM-Future New Material Science and Technology Co. Ltd. (CBMF), a Chinese company based in Taizhou. Both businessmen were previously indicted in June 2017 for conspiracy to commit theft of trade secrets.

According to court records, Shi and Liu conspired with others to commit economic espionage and steal trade secrets from a U.S. engineering firm that produces syntactic foam, a strong, lightweight material with commercial and military uses. Shan; Liu; Uka Kalu Uche, 36, of Spring, Texas; Samuel Abotar Ogoe, 75, of Missouri City, Texas; Kui Bo, 41, a Canadian citizen who had been residing in the Dallas area; and Hui Huang, 33, a Chinese national, were indicted in June 2017 on a charge of conspiracy to commit theft of trade secrets. An additional defendant pleaded guilty to the charge in December 2017. The superseding indictment includes that charge, adds the conspiracy to commit economic espionage count against Shi and Liu, and includes a federal money laundering conspiracy count against Shi. CBMF and CBMI have also been indicted on all three charges.

In 2013 this was a joke, but the path of enshrining Mr.Xi as the “New Mao” is not funny at all, in fact deeply troubling, even today as the “Fake News Media” is reluctantly mentioning the “hand-holding” by the two Koreas strong men, mulling if Trump, Un & Co should get a Novel prize, completely ignoring the fact that PLA is patrolling the South China Sea in force, threatening to go to war if the pirated atolls are attacked.


The “Heroes and Martyrs Protection Law” it is prohibiting misrepresentation, defamation, to profane or deny the deeds and spirits of heroes and martyrs, or to praise or beautify invasions,” all rooted in a Beijing court ruling ordering a historian to apologize for two essays written in 2013 that questioned if the story of the “Five Heroes of Langya Mountain” — Communist soldiers who jumped to their death from a mountain peak instead of surrendering to Japanese troops — really happened.

It sounds very much like George Sorbane’s story, but ain’t funny, ain’t it?

Cannes Film Festival director Thierry Fremaux announced that red carpet selfies will be banned this year — and likely in the future, because selfie hunters make the festival to appear “disorganized” and the program to “run late.

 “[Selfies] are not beautiful,” he said. “They are grotesque. They are ridiculous. We want to restore a bit of decency.”

Cannes Film Festival is famous for its many arcane and arbitrary rules, such as the ban on flat shoes from the red carpet in 2015, and the March announcement that Netflix feature films are prohibited from entering the Cannes competition.

“Any film which is selected to compete will have to be released in theaters,” explained Fremaux in a recent interview with Variety.

“The world is not the same since the Weinstein case; it has woken up. And it’s fortunate,” he explained.

In continuation of the search for new equilibrium point of trade between US and China, President  Trump has instructed officials to consider a further $100 bn of tariffs against China, in an escalation of a tense trade stand-off, in addition to the $50bn worth of US tariffs already proposed on hundreds of Chinese imports.

The proposal comes after China retaliated to that by threatening tariffs on 106 key US products.

Mr. Trump said its latest tariffs were a response to unfair Chinese intellectual property practices, such as those that pressure US companies to share technology with Chinese firms.

A Chinese scientist named Weiqiang Zhang, 51, a Chinese national, and U.S. legal permanent resident residing in Manhattan, Kansas, was sentenced to 121 months in a federal prison for conspiring to steal samples of a variety of rice seeds from a Kansas biopharmaceutical research facility, with of one count of conspiracy to steal trade secrets, one count of conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen property and one count of interstate transportation of stolen property.

Evidence at trial established that Zhang worked as a rice breeder for Ventria Bioscience in Junction City, Kansas. Ventria develops genetically programmed rice to express recombinant human proteins, which are then extracted for use in the therapeutic and medical fields. Zhang has a master’s degree in agriculture from Shengyang Agricultural University in China and a doctorate from Louisiana State University.

“Ventria invested years of research and tens of millions of dollars to create a new and beneficial product,” said U.S. Attorney McAllister. “It is vital that we protect such intellectual property from theft and exploitation by foreign interests. We all benefit when American companies continue to drive socially valuable advancements in food, medicine, and technology.”
